BLACKEST NIGHT EVENT part 01 of 79!
Don't miss this prelude to the biggest comic event of the year! This special story recaps the key moments leading up to the start of BLACKEST NIGHT and will give readers everything they need to know about the Green Lantern universe, their ongoing War of Light, and their dark days ahead.
As far as free comics go, I seriously doubt they get much better than this. While it is just one giant advertisement "- with more ads for Green Lantern-related items, from the Blackest Night action figure line to the "First Flight" DVD -" this story sets the table nicely for the events to come in July. I only hope that the issues with a price tag higher than "free" are as enjoyable as this prologue. Read Full Review
Blackest Night #0 is no mere free comic book. For a promotional item, it's packed with a rich narrative that invites all readers of good stories. Furthermore, it also serves as good summary of where comics are todayliterary tales that are capable in tackling themes and characters involving death and the idea of a super-hero. You simply shouldn't miss this. Read Full Review
Blackest Night #0 is an excellent read; the fact that it is free is merely a bonus. The issue is an interesting detour into some of the private thoughts of Hal Jordan, Barry Allen (and even Batman, interestingly enough),as well as a strong indicator of the excellent storytelling that Geoff Johns is no doubt going to produce this summer. Blackest Night #0 was an average read. As a fan of the DCU, there were aspects of this issue that I found enjoyable. However, DC squandered a golden opportunity to hook non-Green Lantern readers into wanting to get Blackest Night. Blackest Night #0 failed to properly sell the upcoming big event. I am excited about Blackest Night, yet nothing in Blackest Night #0 piqued my interest in the upcoming event. So, I can only imagine how unimpressed a non-Green Lantern reader would have been with this issue. Read Full Review
This freebie comic includes a series of pinups of all of the various lantern corps, illustrated by Doug Mahnke and various inkers. It's a nice primer on all of the diverse and weird characters involved in this cosmic story. Now, some might complain that this comic features only a 12-page story, a series of pin-ups and a lot of ads, but then, those people need a reminder that this is a free comic book. Read Full Review
A solid story that offers more to long term readers than new ones but still has its own charms and definitely got me more interested in Blackest Night. Read Full Review
