"THE PROFESSIONAL" part eight! It's the Man of Steel vs. the world's deadliest assassin in the no-holds-barred finale to the "The Professional"!
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend getting the trade of this if you are unsure. Priest has been telling an amazing story and this is probably one of the best DC rebirth titles out there. The fact that it had both Superman and Batman in it, was cool to see as well and they were used in interesting ways. Read Full Review
“The Professional” was an interesting arc to say the least. It provided a deeper look into the human side of Slade, but was at times hard to follow and a little confusing. That being said, this final issue delivered on the promise that Priest has been teasing since issue one and I am very excited to see what the future holds for Slade, Rose and Jericho as this series continues. In the visual department, Larry Hama, an old pro at wordless comic book storytelling, continues to guide the beautiful pencils by Carlo Pagulayan. Hama is the perfect foil for Priest. They are both old timers in comics who are willing to let visuals do the heavy storytelling lifting. Pagulayan is a fine artist who while he many not handle storytelling as naturally as Hama, can render beautiful scenes. Read Full Review
Hands down this book is insane! I went into it think a fight against Superman would be extremely one sided, however Slade shows off his skills in stealth and being a tactician. The story was great, the action flawless and I can only hope their will be another Deathstroke vs Superman encounter in the future. Read Full Review
Pagulayan did an incredible job displaying how effective Slade's suit is against Superman and the technology that works behind it. I enjoyed the colors of the suit taking blow's and the effect of that suit coming back on Superman. Priest does a good job putting the functions of the gravitational sheath that Slade is wearing down into layman's terms. The confusing part came during the later portion of the issue when it seemed that Superman was overhearing and interacting with Slade's comm link. It proved hard to follow and was a bit of a slow down in such a well placed issue. Read Full Review
I don't know if it's series fatigue or just a bump in the road, but I didn't enjoy this issue that much. Not a whole lot happens story wise and what we did get just felt odd. The art was great, but I can't recommend this issue. Read Full Review
This is how you end an arc right here. With a highly entertaining, grounded fight between two of the most popular characters in DC. Somehow, even without possessing kryptonite or magic, Deathstroke manages to be a viable threat to Superman. It's a really entertaining read, and offers a fine conclusion to an 8 issue story. And my-my, that scene at the end with Superman... expertly written.

Deathstroke #8 "The Professional Conclusion Part 2"
Writer: Christopher Priest
Penciller: Carlo Pagulayan
Plot: It's Superman versus Deathstroke and Slade Wilson must use his wits to escape Superman's clutches as well as assassinate a dangerously elusive cartel boss by the name of Alisante. Can Deathstroke come out on top? Also Rose discovers that Richard was really not Richard her boyfriend and actually working for Slade...
If Slade is a bad Batman, then one can sort of guess how Slade would defeat Superman if one has read the "Dark Knight Returns" - by using Superman's greatest weakness of his unwavering sense of justice. Truly Slade plans out everything including using the ikon s more
Deathstroke comes across a bit marysue-ish in the fight against superman, but other than that, it's a solid issue.
