The story itself is nothing over the top but the cute and funny dialogue and Chens art makes Gotham Academy #7 super appealing for all ages. Go throw money at it cause it deserves it big time. I really think this type of stuff will be the way to go for DC's survival, and it's different so I can't offer anything but highest marks because of it standing out. Gotham Academy #7 is a simple and quick one-shot that was an incredible amount of fun, seeing both Maps and Damian team up for a little bit. There were some minor problems and a disappointment at the end, but overall, this was easily one of the best issues of the series so far. I hope the series can keep this excitement going forward. Gotham Academy #7 might not have the most plot elements to it, but it is a fun romp through the academy. The mystery plays with aspects of Batman's past lore and gives more focus on Maps which is never a bad thing. The art is on point and in many aspects better than some of Kerschl's work. While there are some iffy parts with one of the action sequences, it is some of the best illustrations from any comic company. This is a good book and one that has a lot of heart. Read Full Review

Writers Becky Cloonan and Brendan Fletcher have crafted a story that ebbs and flows, which moves the plot along quickly while ensuring the dialogue and narration with strong character moments. While this issue was entertaining, it also comes off as being a relative piece of fluff compared to what has come before in the series. The celebrity guest is given star status, as the series' main character is missing. The story is fun, but little more than that, as it feels as though it could have easily been ripped from the pages of Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys and then condensed into a single comic issue. Once again, we have a magical mystery that embraces the mundane, la the best Scooby Doo episodes " well-balanced stories with achingly normal school goings-on that showcase great character work from writers Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher. The two manage to keep the pace skipping along during a couple necessary expository interludes, and they continue to write Maps as the most endearingly adorable character in the entire DCU. Every month, "Gotham Academy" reminds me why it's such a great addition to the Batverse, and issue #7 is fun even if it's filler. Also, I found it strange that Batman hung around Wayne Castle in Inishtree centuries ago. Gotham Academy is supposed to be in continuity so I did a little research and found that in World's Finest Vol 1 #225 from October 1974 “Superman and Batman go to Castle Wayne in Inishtree Scotland to investigate a rumor of possessed children with great powers”.Ok, fair enough. Coming off their two month hiatus, classes are back in session.  Gotham Academy returns with a fun issue for the fans.  A new reader can easily pick this book up and have fun with it.  Having Damian in this issue greatly adds to the stories dynamic.  While the art was gorgeous, the transitions left me confused with what had happened.  The characters were really fun, but the situation they were in did not make much sense and when it was furthered explain, it still did not make sense.  This is clearly a filler issue and I cannot wait for the next arc to begin. Another strong issue. This is probably the only instance where I actually liked Damien. His giving Maps a batarang really shows how he bucks tradition and made a big impression. The art was very fitting for the Maps-centric issue. Even though I prefer Kerschl, I still enjoyed it.

Super fun! Maps is my favorite character in the series and her in an adventure with Damien Wayne is just a straight up good time through and through.
