Overall, I really enjoyed reading and reviewing He-Man and the Masters of the Multiverse #1. Given that the Masters of the Universe franchise was a major component of my childhood, it's incredible to see that it still has a major place in the realm of comic books in 2019. Issue one is of He-man and the Masters of the Multiverse's heroes are not He-man and Keldor, but Friend and Fraga. It is a strong foundation, even if it is ripped from the pages of a Jet Li script. I did really like that movie so there is hope. I would recommend giving this a chance and seeing where it goes. It could be just the reboot He-man needs. Read Full Review

Whether you're a fan of all things He-Man or only have love for the 80's Filmation cartoon, the inside baseball nature of the story doesn't flaunt it's knowledge in the reader's face to prove a point. OverallI initially got this issue because I was feeling nostalgic, but have found myself totally sucked into Tim Seeley's story and cannot wait for the next issue. If you've never been a He-Man fan, this is the book for you. You can learn all about the different versions of the property and pick the one you like, and go from there. Id imagine this might be a bit of a tougher sell for readers who arent already massive fans of the character, but hey, those people dont deserve good comics anyway. All of this care creates an issue that is much more than simple fan service. He-man and the Master's of the Multiverseis an invitation for any fan across generations to return to the characters they remember and an excellent launching point for a new story where anything can and does happen to characters and expectations. Nostalgically speaking, there is a lot of fun to be had, particularly with the many references to the MOTUs less popular canon. The inclusion of one such character is likely to cause certain readers to rejoice, while others may turn away in disgust. The scope of this series and the respect to the characters varied history is evident in the last page reveal, which is likely to be equally polarizing to long-time fans. Overall, He-Man & the Masters of the Multiverse takes some bold and interesting choices in its debut issue. It's a series that will definitely have a Spider-Verse feel and flavor to it, so if you're in the mood for that type of story, and have a background with Eternia and He-Man characters, I think this is something you'll find fun in. That is a very specific crowd, so if you pick this up and don't recognize the references, or know the characters well, you may come out of this feeling like you got a little less than a huge fan would. I am not a He-Man fan, but after reading Tim Seeley write Injustice vs Masters of the Universe... I was oddly excited to check out this mini. I read all about the deep dives he makes to German He-man casette tapes, and as a fan of other things, I can definitely appreciate that hustle. I actually really liked this. Seeley isn't bad when he writes about something he actually likes (which apparently isn't Nightwing, Green Lanterns, Hellblazer, Shatterstar, etc.)
