House of Mystery vs. House of Secrets! The team is so badly defeated that even Constantine is out of tricks. Uh-oh To be concluded in this months JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK ANNUAL #1.

I love JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK. Since Jeff Lemire has taken over this book, it's become one of my favorites at DC. This is a fantastic issue where we get to see one house chase another through Limbo. Sure, that's not all that happened, but it's my favorite moment of the week. We get to see some great fight scenes here and this issue ends on a bit of a downer. The writing and art are top notch. I highly recommend you go back and pick up issue 9 to get caught up. This issue is my pick of the week! Read Full Review

With the conclusion of this story coming ever nearer Lemire's produced an amazing penultimate issue, and although the fights were a bit short, the overall development was brilliant, and the issue left me wanting to read Justice League Dark Annual #1. I would recommend this issue to anyone, and the entire series, as it's been nothing short of phenomenal. Read Full Review

    IGN - Joshua Yehl Oct 24, 2012

Lemire has each of his separated heroes face off with their individual threats from last issue, only to be greeted by an even more overwhelming opposition. There are times when the dialogue gets a bit heavy, but it always gets back on track with another unexpected revelation that, like all the good twists, was right there all along if you cared to look for it. If Justice League Dark isn't on your monthly pull list then add it now, or I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too! Read Full Review

By now you'd think Jeff Lemire couldn't keep ramping the crazy supernatural action that is Justice League Dark. But somehow, he and artist Mikel Janin keep it coming with Issue #13. As has been the case since Lemire took over the title, this issue not only shows how well the players act as a team, but also gives them space to shine on their own Read Full Review

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Lemire closes off this first arc, especially because it looks like the team roster will be getting a bit of a mix-up next month, and we get to see Lemire return to writing Frankenstein within its pages. Luckily, though, we only have to wait one more week before we get more JLD, and if everything we've seen thus far is any indication, it's sure to be a great issue. Read Full Review

If youre the kind of reader who loves a dramatic cliffhanger, then youre in for a treat! Justice League Dark #13 leaves readers begging for more. Luckily, the wait wont be too long because the conclusion of Books of Magic story arc will come next week in the form of Justice League Dark Annual #1 and Mikel Janin has personally informed me that both he and Jeff Lemire believe that the JLD Annual is the best issue that theyve done yet! Read this series and thank me later! Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Oct 29, 2012

This series excels due to team sensibilities similar to the Satellite Era of the "Justice League of America" and a cast slightly more elevated than that of the post-"Zero Hour" series "Primal Force," but with more power and purpose. "Justice League Dark" #13 is a fun sample of the plot, action and character balance that Jeff Lemire brings to this series. The story in this issue is part of a longer narrative that pulls together so many different threads and notions from across the DC Universe to become something new and thrilling. Read Full Review

The Comic Book Revue - Jay Mattson Oct 25, 2012

Basically, Justice League Dark #13 is the prelude to the conclusion of "War for the Books of Magic". Nick Necro is putting his final plans together to find the Books, part of which includes Felix Faust retrieving Timothy Hunter, the boy who is supposedly the key to finding the books and unlocking their power. Fortunately, Madame Xanadu is on site and whisks Timothy away before Faust can take him. Meanwhile, the rest of the team takes on the combined power of Nick Necro - recently returned from Hell with a cadre of new powers and abilities - and Doctor Mist. This isn't the final battle. Mostly, Lemire uses this issue to put all the pieces into place for the coming showdown. Yes, there's a lot of magic being thrown around, but it's the personal relationships that take the heaviest beating this month. Constantine, Zatanna, and Necro have a past and it comes back to bite them. And we only have to wait one week for Justice League Dark Annual #1 for the final chapter! Read Full Review

Lemire definitely has the right ideas, but displays some clumsiness and impatience in his execution. Imperfections in the art don't help matters, either. Read Full Review
