A major new storyline starts here!
Jeff Lemire took over with issue #9 in Justice League Dark and it has been a great experience for me so far. I never read the previous issues so I can't compare how good or not the series was but Jeff Lemire has proven to be a solid writer with JLD and his other DC series he currently writes. The entire Justice League Dark gang have such unique personalities and backgrounds that the one thing they all share is that they are each so different in the DC Universe that putting them all together was a great idea. Jeff Lemire has made magic and sorcery cool again. Read Full Review
The art by Graham Nolan and Victor Drujiniu is extremely pretty, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing here. It's a tad too clean for a borderline horror comic. It's hard to criticize art for being too attractive! It's really nice, but I think maybe something sketchier or grittier may have served the story a bit better. Read Full Review
Overall, Justice League Dark #14 is a bridge issue that suffers only because it's the starting point for a lot of plot going forward, meaning it's an issue filled with questions with positively no answers. And even then, there's something exciting about being given a whole load of new mysteries to ponder as we wait for the next issue. Jeff Lemire is writing one hell of a series and I'll be sad to see him leave once he takes on Green Arrow in a few months. Read Full Review
Filler before the next big storyline. It's okay, but nothing fantastic. Just okay. Read Full Review
Although not as good as the other issues in this series, this was still a very good issue, and Lemire did a brilliant job of developing the shocking conclusion to the War for the Books of Magic, as well as giving us something fun, and unique. I'd still recommend this issue, as it shows how good a series this is when this is the worst issue I've read. Read Full Review
In this issue, Lemire continues to impress with his knowledge for all things occult in the DCU while expanding this book's role in the larger scheme of things, and he still finds time to make sure every character gets some screen time. It's a nice break from all the action we just got out of with the JLD showing down with Necro in the annual, but Lemire proves he's not slowing down any time soon. Read Full Review
Truthfully, this could have been an issue that you could probably skip and not have to worry about feeling left out in the dark as the next story arc moves forward, but Lemire has pulled out all the stops to make this issue worth all the while. Read Full Review
If only the name of the book wasn't so dumb. Read Full Review
Justice League Dark #14 is a mixed bag but, all in all, an enjoyable one. I, for one, am happy to overlook the shortcomings of this book in favor of the time that I was able to spend walking around with the characters and the interesting discovery in the House of Mystery. Read Full Review
Justice League Dark #14 wasn't as good as the last two issues of the story, but it served its purpose to reveal more about its main character, and provide us with a trippy adventure through the House of Mystery. Read Full Review
I still have faith in this cast under this writer, but these kinds of issues can make you start to doubt whether they'll deliver the glory they promise. Read Full Review
