Annataz si kcab! But the outnumbered Zatanna can’t do it alone. Knight Terrors: Zatanna #1 is a great look at what's happening outside the nightmares. The views inside the minds of some of DC's most iconic heroes are interesting and amass some brilliant stories. Read Full Review
The Knight Terrors one-shots have been a pleasant surprise thus far. Not all of them have been brilliant, but there have been quite a few sparkling moments here and there. Its not often that Zatanna is given her own title. Zatanna-centric stories have been rather hit-or-miss in the past. Its nice to see it done so well. Not everyone gets the character right, but Culver has a clever handle on what makes her appealing. A Culver-written Zatanna series would be great fun. Read Full Review
This issue ties in well with the overarching story while establishing itself as stand-alone side adventure. Culver introduces some interesting concepts and characters that will hopefully be further explored in the next issue and as the story reaches its climatic point over in the main series. Fans of 'Justice League Dark' or 'Unstoppable Doom Patrol' will find that this is an indispensable tie-in, providing a fun break from the norm and important character development in equal measure. Read Full Review
Overall, this issue has some great character moments, and it wraps up with a tense cliffhanger that promises a dramatic fight next issue. Like all the Knight Terrors tie-ins so far, it's fun but not really breaking any new ground. Read Full Review
I would have picked this book up anyway due to the main character being my favorite. I love to read anything that she features in. But the pacing is off slightly for me and there are a few moments that feel forced instead of a fluid transition. But these do not affect the overall, and are honestly just me being slightly picky. The artwork details are spot on and you feel Zatanna's frustration clearly as well as her dedication. It will be interesting to see if there will be closure for Zatanna with this arc. I look forward to finding out with all of you! Read Full Review
Knight Terrors: Zatanna #1 stands out as the first character specific issue in the series to take place in the waking world. But it expertly incorporates the horror and nightmare themes that have made the overall arc so good to this point. Read Full Review
While Zatanna's spells here don't break the mold in terms of originality here, and fans unfamiliar with both characters might be a bit confused when it comes to the ghosts of their past making a comeback, it's a worthy entry for this nightmare-fueled event. Read Full Review
Ok opening scenes I laughed.
"Bring me a champion."
Robotman appears "Wtf"
Zatanna "These guys suck!"
Everyone hates/rags on the poor Doom Patrol.
That being said, seeing as this is written by Culver, it is at least consistent with Doom Patrol characters, and as often the case, Cliff punches his way out of his problems. Both physical and emotional.
Zatanna is awesome as always. ...and those daddy issues as always.
Also don't take my score too seriously, I love both the Doom Patrol and Zatanna as my top two favorite people/teams so this is going to be an inflated rating as they were both written in character at least.
KNIGHT TERRORS ZATANNA #1 is exactly what an event tie-in should be. It’s well written, visually pleasant, and provides readers with an interesting side-quest that actually adds to the main event’s plot. FIRST BLOOD and KNIGHT TERRORS #1 set Zatanna up to play a key role in the main event after she was unaffected by Insomnia’s sleeping curse due to her magical abilities and this issue continued to build on that foundation. I’m really hoping that we see more of Zatanna in the event’s main mini-series after this issue.
I really enjoyed Dennis Culver’s interactions between Zatanna and Robotman, after the former conjures the latter to help fend off enemies. The two must work together to get Wonder Woman and Detective Chi more
