Comic Watch - Clint Theron May 3, 2022

I was already blown away by how greatNubia & The Amazons was, butNubia: Coronation Special #1 (by much of the same creative team) is even better. A complete celebration of the character of Nubia, this one-shot explores Nubia at various points in her life and cemented her as one of the top Wonder Woman family characters. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff May 4, 2022

Editor Brittany Holzherr has cleverly directed traffic flow for an exciting special. Not all of it feels perfectly in tune with everything else. (The scene set in the future feels like it comes out of a completely different comic book.) Themyscira has been through a lot over the past few months: a murder, a funeral, a reconstruction, and now a coronation. With any luck, the new Nubia mini-series will continue the exploration of Themyscira's future. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke May 3, 2022

I wasn't sure what to expect from Nubia: Coronation Special, but as always DC Comics delivers on good anthology storytelling. Each tale offers a bit of commentary on Nubia, but the larger world too, and how we can make it better. Not only am I excited for more Nubia tales, but I'm glad the message of peace and prosperity is at the forefront when the world seems to be on fire. Nubia Coronation Special is a reminder the future of the Amazons is brighter because of Nubia and her outlook on the world. Read Full Review

Nubia: Coronation Special #1sets the stage for Nubia's future as the Queen of the Amazons, thanks to a supremely talented creative roster. The gorgeous art is the main selling point here, but I have to say that the story is more compelling than the event that preceded it and has me very stoked for the upcoming sequel mini. Read Full Review
