Might read better as a trade, but this is a brutal slog.
BRING ON THE THUNDER! A Lazarus Planet: Revenge of the Gods tie-in! To save Themyscira, Wonder Woman must join forces with an unexpected ally: a sworn enemy of the Amazons! But to finally defeat the gods, Diana needs the new champion of Shazam at her side. Will the heroines find each other before it's too late?
The storyline draws to a close in next weeks Lazarus Planet: Revenge of the Gods #4. The Revenge of the Gods storyline has been one of those rare instances in which a big crossover event actually turns out to be kind of good. The writers working on the series have done an impressive job with it. With any luck, the big conclusion next week will give the storyline a solid landing. Read Full Review
The real heart of this issue is in the backup by Josie Campbell and Caitlin Yarsky, which ties up Mary's storyarc since the Campbell mini last year. Mary's story has been fairly short, but Campbell has packed a lot of care into it. Read Full Review

This is the second to last issue, as we reach the end of the road for Lazarus Planet: Revenge of the Gods next week, and that's a crying shame. This follow-up event has been a joy to read, and I'll be sad when it's over. With new starts on the horizon for Wonder Woman and potentially for Mary Marvel, we won't be short of stories for these characters though, and I'll take that. Read Full Review

Wonder Woman and Mary Marvel (who has an 80th anniversary coming up) make for a really strong character pairing, and both creative teams make good use of both heroes. Read Full Review
Wonder Woman #798 sets up the players for the penultimate issue in the War of the Gods arc with a status quo change for Diana and Mary Marvel and plenty of bare-knuckled brawling to get you pumped for more. The 'war' feels smaller now than when it started, and splitting the arc into two titles is needlessly confusing, but the net result is a reasonably good Wonder Woman action comic. Read Full Review
The most interesting thing about Wonder Woman #798 is that Diana gets a major power upgrade (the art here is pretty good, too), but overall, the story just feels really rushed and needlessly split up between the Wonder Woman title and Lazarus Planet: Revenge of the Gods and even at that the issue itself is split into two stories that is also divided between the two titles. Incredible work from Nahuelpan and Bonvillain remains the best colorist in the business. It's a shame to see Josie Campbell's wonderful New Champion series getting shoved aside for (what I assume will be) a nostalgia piece (even one by Waid & Mora) but it was nice to get at least a little bit more from her first

Solid art and an interesting status quo change for Wonder Woman, but a story that feels oddly light and unmemorable.
