Kambadais has a fantastic visual style that emphasizes the characters with great, dramatic poses and atmosphere. I love the look of this issue and look forward to seeing how much Kambadais will push the series visually. Read Full Review
Gargoyles #1 is an excellent start. Not only did it leave me wanting more, it has me wanting to go back and watch the original animated series to see what I missed. It's surprisingly "adult in what it talks about catching me as a new reader off guard but also sucking me in. This isn't the "kids series I thought it was, and partially dismissed it because of, and has me excited to discover more. Read Full Review
GARGOYLES #1 recaptures the fun, imagination, and excitement of the original Gargoyles cartoon by (re)introducing the entire cast and setting up the big villain to come. The pacing, dialog, and character representations are on-point, and Kamadaiss cartoonish art style is a suitable match for the property. Read Full Review
Weisman and company stay true to the property's roots, and that should prove beneficial in the long run. Read Full Review

Quickly getting readers up-to-date with a show that ran for 78 episodes nearly 30 years ago is no easy task, but Elisa's narration works well with short introductions of the show's mythology, quick intros for the main characters, and cluing us in to major events such as the gang war that is brewing in New York since the Gargoyles helped put both local crime bosses behind bars, all while hopefully not boring longtime fans. As the issue concludes we also learn Maggie is going into labor to deliver a child several characters have a keen interest in, leading into next month's issue. Read Full Review

This series continues where the last one left off. Since I missed it, as I'm sure many of us did I found the way it introduced the characters and brought us up to speed useful. It looks like big stuff is ahead for the Gargoyles as the gang wars are shaking up the city and Thailog has a plan of his own for Talon and Maggie's soon-to-be-born child. It looks like the series will be quite interesting as it develops as we hoped.
Solid first issue, but almost entirely setting the table. If nothing else, Mr. Weisman hasn't lost a step in writing his creations. Interestingly, not one mention of Xanatos. Also interestingly, we still seem to be in the 90s.
The whole issue is spent introducing the characters. I was not familiar with Brooklyn's family, Katana and Nashville, so I guess it wasn't a total waste, but I certainly would have liked more to happen.
