ASSASSIN NATION #1 is easily one of the funniest series to come out of Image Comics' Skybound imprint this year. Kyle Starks and Erica Henderson play to each other's strengths and have fun along the way. Fans of SEXCASTLE and UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL will find plenty to love about a murderous lot of assassins paid to protect a big target. It's a must read. Read Full Review
Like the characters in its pages working as hit men, Assassin Nation #1 is locked in on its target: showing its audience a great time. This is one of those comics you start reading before suddenly finding yourself surprised that it had to end. Read Full Review

In all, this was a really strong first issue that set the tone for the rest of the series. It’s a lot of fun and has just the right amount of all its components to be a great thrillride. Read Full Review

The first issue is good and feels like it ramps up to a finale that's so over the top, it's hard to not laugh and smile at the silliness of it all. I expected an action comic and got a massive laugh by the end. This is a solid debut that has me excited to see what comes next. Read Full Review
Henderson's eclectic character design makes for building quite the expressive ensemble, a factor which helps when the bullets starts flying. Even in the middle of the frenzy, her cartooning persists as some of the best of the best, a wonderful fit for a book about exactly that. Read Full Review

More of an action comedy than thriller, Assassin Nation delivers the laughs and the gore in an agreeable poke at a typical gangster tale fleshed out by an entertaining premise. Read Full Review
Dark humor and splattering cranial contents abound in Image Comics' new release, Assassin Nation. Both the colors and the characters are vivid, and the dialogue is just the right level of salty for a troupe of hired guns. Read Full Review
A darkly tongue-in-cheek story about the perils of assembling the world's greatest hitmen (and women!) in one room. Fun and frivolous, Assassin Nation #1 doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should you. If the crazy antics of the hotheads don't bring a smile to your face, you'd better check your pulse! In terms of writing"no, it's not good. But the art is terrific and justifies a purchase. Hopefully Erica Henderson can move onto better written projects after this. Read Full Review
Okay I loved this way more than I should have.
This was really fun. It was pretty great. My favorite part of it was the explanation for the guy named Fuck. The art was especially great and is used to greater effect here than I think it ever was in Squirrel Girl.
Not anything that hasn't been done before, but a pretty cool debut. I'm in.
What happens when the former #1 assassin in the world retire to become a crime boss and gets targeted for assassination? He hires a bunch of other assassins to protect him from the assassins that are trying to assassinate him. The title of this book might be a little too on the nose.
I’m not sure what this book is trying to be. It is described by the publisher as “madcap”, “bombastic”, and “side-splitting” with references to action comedy films like Hot Fuzz and Tropic Thunder. To compare a comic book to a film is unfair, especially wacky action-comedies like the aforementioned where the pure charisma and timing of the stars can elevate a mediocre plot. The same cannot be done with the flat panels of a comic more
