SERIES PREMIERE
FOR FANS OF GIDEON FALLS AND HOME SICK PILOTS!
After inheriting a farm house, Trudy and Gabby are ready to start the next chapter of their lives together...except it's already home to a mysterious force that's attracted ghosts, aliens, and all kinds of supernatural beings for decades.
Now, Gabby and Trudy must play by the "house rules" in order to survive living among the most frightening creatures on Earth in this new series from KYLE STARKS (ASSASSIN NATION, THE SIX SIDEKICKS OF TRIGGER KEATON) and ARTYOM TOPILIN (ICE CREAM MAN PRESENTS: QUARANTINE COMIX SPECIAL).
In short, the creative team behind I Hate This Place is firing on all cylinders. Instead of saying I hate this place, readers will be yelling I love this book. Read Full Review

Topilin delivers some great art in the first issue. The art is very stylized for the human characters and the supernatural ones have the perfect level of visual terror attached to them. Read Full Review

I Hate This Place #1 is a strong start that knows the value of keeping some secrets locked up for future issues. It establishes a sense of place and character that makes it hard not to care for the story. Gore and blood abound but more as a promise of things to come. One thing is for sure as far as this first issue is concerned, you'll love hating the place Gabby and Trudy find themselves in, and you'll want more of it sooner rather than later. Read Full Review

While the plot is shoved to the side a bit in the name of character development, there are some great characters with some really effective horror imagery and gorgeous art. Read Full Review
On my first read through I was admittedly a little lost on the horror angle. I felt there was just a bit too much going on, just a few too many different threads to bind this together. Im glad I gave it another read though as I got over my initial concerns and, as stated above, just enjoyed the ride. I still feel it's maybe more of an action horror than something that will truly give you the shivers, but thats A-okay in my book too. Read Full Review
I think this would have benefitted wildy with art that fits the tone more. As for what we got? A good #1 with a good concept, good introduction and the promise of wild things to come.
There's a lot of potential here.
...Okay, cool, I guess. I'm really just here for all the absurdity Kyle Starks promised.
it's impressive how something this creative can also be so ordinary
