Word Of The Nerd - Brent Jackson
Oct 26, 2016This is another great entry for this series, I liked the first issue but the second issue makes this a must read! Remender is weaving a fantastic sci-fi tale that promises many twist and turns. WithOpea on art and Hollingsworth on colors it is a feast for the eyes! There is so much going on in this book and with the second issue plots and characters are starting to come together and it is going to be a very interesting ride. Why should you not listen to The god of Whispers offer well I will leave you with a quote from Adam's father from this issue "Once a man convinces himself that what he wants is what he needs, well, once you do that taking the path to damnation can feel like a justifiable position". 10/10 I had to read this 3x's!! I finally got the ending. Jevalia as the little girl was a vessel for the Mud King who discovered Adam's greatest desires when she encountered him as a youth. As the Mud King says.. she was cursed with seeing the desires of others. In present time at the Mud King castle, she was lusted after by the Emperor Tolden who had sold out to the Mud King and accepted the offer. When the Mosak bum rushed the castle, Jevalia jumped behind rocks with Adam. From there the Purple Mosak; one of the four who attacked the castle proceeded to shape shift disguised as Jehalia and seemingly rescues the Emperor to safety. In passing the Emperor sees the real Jehalia hiding behing the rocks with Adam. more

Great indie series, that creates a lot of mystery and action. Awesome magic visuals combined with great backstory.

This issue provides context to this world and characters that elevates it way beyond the amazing visuals and action. I can't help feeling like the buildup of the "God of Whispers" doesn't match the events, however. Things are going well... too well. Can't wait for the next issue!

The art is great -- everything from the pencils to the colors and especially the character/creature designs. The story moves along nicely in this issue, presenting some important backstory without taking up too many panels or slowing things down and moving the current story forward nicely with a few twists and intricacies. The reason why I didn't rate this issue even higher is because there still seems to be a good amount of chaos and unknowns which cause a bit of confusion. However, I'm sure everything will be cleared up effectively in due time. Great issue in what seems to be a great series.
