In the end, Spider-Man: Torn #1 is a bold but uneven return for J. Michael Straczynski. Pretty good start JMS just gets Spider-Man so much and the characters also it’s interesting seeing a story set in the past where Gwen is actually encouraging Peter to get with MJ because they both like each other but he doesn’t know how it’s a lot of fun.
I loved this.
JMS writing Spider-Man is always like putting an old comfortable sweater and feeling good. It's nothing new, but the familiarity and good vibes makes it a really enjoyable experience.
Also, I just love the voices JMS has for these characters. Especially Peter. His is one of my favorites.
Very enjoyable Spiderman story. Nothing groundbreaking, but the writing and art are very well done and this could be seen as a breath of fresh air for some Spidey fans who aren't into the craziness around the character these past few years.
I almost forgot what it’s like when a writer who actually understands these characters is doing their thing.
This gave me Pre-One More Day vibes from Amazing Spider-Man. It's nice to see JMS tackle this again
