I didn't think that this issue could come close to being as good as the first one, but I was wrong. So. So. Wrong. DeMatteis & Baldeon hit every high spot and sink every shot in this issue. Complete and total home run. Read Full Review
David Baldeon is one of my favorite artists for a reason and this issue confirms it with the brilliantly detailed designs and characters along with explosive and visually thrilling action. Read Full Review
Ben Reilly: Spider-Man is a mix of intense action with psychological elements and character development. The second issue in the series features Scorpion and further examination of what it means to be an imposter Spider-Man who is a well-rounded person. Read Full Review
Ben Reilly: Spider-Man #2 is a terrific second part. The best thing about this issue, in particular, is it demonstrates just how different Ben is going to be than Peter is as Spider-Man. From his personality to his mental state to even the relationship between protagonist and plot, this is a unique hero. DeMatteis didnt just replace Peter Parker in a like-for-like swap, this is a story about one of the most unique and beloved characters in comics. Read Full Review
The art is expressive and full of energy, and the team works well together when it comes to Spider-Man action sequences. Read Full Review
This continues to be a really good miniseries. It's firmly entrenched in 90s Spidey despite mostly being accessible. You either know the ins and outs of the continuity or you don't, and either way you get an engaging story. It's actually very nostalgic for me. I'm kind of tempering my scores here because if I based it solely on my emotional response, this would be a 10/10 even if I'm not sure that's really warranted. Trying to stay away from doing that. I'm excited to see who the villain here actually is, and I hope this series sells well enough to possibly give DeMatteis more Spider-Man to write. Maybe even an ongoing.
This is just very good. The atmosphere is perfect, really takes me back to the '90s Clone Saga!
I'm neither disappointed nor impressed by the plot and character developments. They make sense, they work, they're not thrilling to me.
What *is* impressive is the way the content is presented. The art's really strong. The prose is decent; the structure of the script is formidable. All those layered scenes could be a hideous mess -- but they aren't.
Not as strong as the first issue, in my opinion. It was okay, I'm just glad the drop-off wasn't over a cliff.
Sadly im not really feeling this story, feels a bit too slow and like a generic character feeling sorry for them self arc
