A few odd panels here and there can't deter from an otherwise fantastic issue, and this arc has been one of my absolute favorites in this already impressive Captain Marvel run. Read Full Review

Were five issues in and still not sure what it is that the Brood want with Binary, Carol, or Rogue yet, which is causing the story to drag a little. Theres a passing reference to whats going on in the X-Men book, kinda making this story tie in to whats going on there, but it feels a tad like cheating, with the connecting covers and all. Hopefully next issues answer some of the questions left unanswered. Read Full Review

Avila crafts some great art in the issue. The characters look great and the environments do a great job of capturing the mood and tone of the story. Read Full Review

The Brood arc in Captain Marvel has been a successful reunion between Carol Danvers and the X-Men. Thompson's love for both Carol and the X-Men is evident in her thoughtful handling of Rogue's complicated history with Carol and the heartfelt scene between Rogue and Hazmat. Thompson deftly uses the premise of Avengers Academy to examine Hazmat's feelings of being labeled as untrustworthy. Captain Marvel #47 seamlessly ties together epic action scenes and tender character moments. Read Full Review

The stellar run continues. I wouldn't mind if Thompson gets another 50 issues with Carol.
There are some issues in this one. You can tell Thompson is not very familiar with the mutants but still handles them well.

The Hazmat-Rogue part was good, I hope Jen Takeda becomes a more nuanced char over time.

Both Rogue & Binary's rescues were... MOVING, and INTENSE! Once again, a nice balance of the cast combined with some really cool CHARACTER MOMENTS for each of them. There's also just this inherent, synergistic chemistry between them all as a group, that makes it seem like they've been together for a lot longer than they have. It all just worked for me, gelling & flowing so naturally, with pacing that was on point. KT has a good handle on these characters, and I could *feel* what they're all going through. Agree that the heart-to-heart between Jen/Hazmat & Anna was effectively touching and had to endear both to any reader with even just a modicum of empathy. Also FULLY ENDORSE KELLY getting an X-TEAM BOOK, she just *has to* after this, it's more

This is a solid read, like this title always is. I really wonder how this will tie-in to the X-Men story. They keep acting like these things are connected, and sure, in a broad sense they are. But they also keep teasing that both books will converge eventually, and I'm not sure if I should trust that. Either way, I hope it gets Captain Marvel more readers. This book is the best Carol's been written since... 2003.

It's a solid chapter that does plenty to ratchet up the ongoing tension (after a nice breath-catching start). There's great insight into Carol's thinking, and a touching moment between Hazmat and Rogue, too.

But I gotta say, I wish this arc had more consistent art. This issue in particular would have been enhanced by more nuanced facial expressions to match the intense drama the characters are going through.

I'm not sure where Thompson is going with this. She brings up once again that the Rogue they killed was not Rogue, but she never answered what they killed. We get a two-page spread of Rogue retelling her side of the story without ever addressing this. Why? Don't know. They save Binary, but Carol has to take her place. Not sure why Jessica couldn't zap the crap of the tendrils from range, while Carol flies out of there taking the Binary with her. I felt it was lazy writing without explaing why the heroes are remaining in this situation. Also, I thought when Rogue takes someone's powers, they pass out for a bit. This never happens with a weakened Laura and it still takes Rogue a good amount of time to heal. She isn't even healed by the end of more
