GRIEF WILL BE HER DOWNFALL!
Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, Hazmat and the X-Men's mission to find Rogue and rescue Binary has technically been successful, and yet our heroes now find themselves in a worse position than ever, trapped at the mercy of a legion of Brood and a rogue Brood Empress. The Brood has now pushed Carol Danvers to her limit not once, but twice. What it unlocked the first time helped make Carol the Captain Marvel she is today. What has it unlocked this time? And will anyone - including Carol - survive it?

Captain Marvel #49 is spectacular, and if issue #50 is this good, the series will cap off in sensational fashion. Read Full Review
Every inch of this story is brought to a new level by the artwork and together, Thompson and Frigeri deliver a story that's significant, awesome, and heartwarming. Read Full Review
Its the end to the biggest Brood saga that weve had in years, but the ending just didnt hit the way I was expecting it to. We still have one more issue to go, but I hope that this issue doesnt have a negative impact on one of the strongest solo titles Marvel has had in years. Read Full Review
Davila delivers some beautifully detailed and epic action throughout the issue. The visuals truly capture the tension of moments as well as the danger to the characters. Read Full Review
Death is (hardly) ever permanent, so my only concern coming out of this issue would be if Binary is immediately brought back, the opportunity for the exploration of the emotional weight of this experience for Carol will be lost. Im interested to see how Carols new power level shifts the dynamics between her and other cosmically-powered (or godly) beings in the Marvel universe, and look forward to seeing what's in store for the character! Carol Danvers was shown stepping up and doing what she needed to do to put an end to the conflict with the Brood Empress. The ending could've been better if the Brood story running concurrently over in the X-Men series was integrated in a more seamless manner. The way Rogue played an important role in the story did help in making up for this. Overall, Captain Marvel #49 provided a satisfying conclusion to the "Revenge Of The Brood storyline Read Full Review
I am so sad to see this run ending. This was a title I went to once Spider-Woman ended because I needed to see Jess and started reading Captain Marvel as a result. I have loved Carol throughout this run and really loved this comic
I love this series right now and I'm disappointed it will be over after the next issue. This issue in particular continues to great pacing, great character work and the art is great. This is why I read comics. Fun characters, exciting story and well done art. Good times.
I feel like Marvel is making a mistake ending Thompson's run for something else in time for a synergistic launch with the upcoming movie. This run has been such a salve for Carol's character after being put through the wringer constantly since 2016, and this issue is a perfect encapsulation as to why. Carol can be a bit bull-headed but her intentions are always solid, and she knows she can do better and relies on her allies to help her be better. I'm pretty sure this is the longest run Carol's had as a solo character, and it's easy to see why. Thompson managed to rebuild her reputation and her fanbase. I know there's a whole other issue to go before the run ends, but I felt like this issue did such a perfect job exemplifying why Thompson's more
It's a good issue and a decent conclusion to the arc. It's crafted pretty well (though definitely improvable) in words and art.
The title's ending soon. In hindsight, this whole arc is a sign that the time is right. This issue drives the message further home: All the memorable moments belong to peripheral characters and guest stars. When Carol's inner voice shows up on the last page, it's almost startling how flat it feels in comparison to what's come before.
Kelly Thompson is running out of cool things to do with, to say about, Carol Danvers. So it's a good time to draw the curtain.
After 50 issues that have gone continuously down in quality. I'm glad the series is ending. I'm not sure why they never switched writers over the entire four-year run of the book. It needed a new perspective and never got it. They let Kelly T. run it into the ground. This storyline with the brood was entirely drawn out to the point of boredom. Let's see what happens with the final issue.
