Ewing and Rodriguez continue to plumb the depths of the Marvel universe in ways never before attempted, with incredible art and a story that makes me see the multiverse in new and exciting ways. Read Full Review
Few artists have the ability to tell the story Ewing set out to tell and luckily for comic readers around the world, Marvel managed to land Javier Rodriguez for this. Rogriduez's work on this issue, in particular, shows just how perfect a match this whole team is. Read Full Review
Defenders: Beyond #4 is the penultimate issue of the miniseries. However, this issue is the most predictable and underwhelming when it comes to the Defenders' encounter with Glorian. The best books Marvel always fails to put real marketing budgets behind them.....
I admire the straight-up devil's bargain presented to the Defenders here and the way they (America and Taaia in particular) step into the spotlight to turn it down. I do love heroes making choices. The art remains formidable and there's just enough wild philosophy embroidered around the edges to elevate this into more than an ordinary heroes' journey.
And what then -- when your new timeline doesn't "make the grade"?! "Reboot after reboot", you said!! And each sooner than the last -- always hunting for the "perfect fix" until not even we know if we're the "true story" or your latest "maybe-verse"!
