Made up of two stories, the Fantastic Four Wedding Special included everything I wanted and then some. Read Full Review
All in all, this is one wedding special that, for once, actually is special. Read Full Review
Just about everything is now in place except for the Things bachelor party, which I surmise well be seeing in Fantastic Four #5 along with the nuptials themselves. Much as Im looking forward to the wedding and everything surrounding it (a bachelor party thrown by the Human Torchwhat could possibly go wrong there?), Im even more intrigued with what will immediately follow: the return of Dr. Doom and a battle between the Monarch of Evil andGalactus! Im very interested to know what thats all about and whats going to come of it! Read Full Review
All three tales are charming in their own right (through none reach the heights of a drunk Crystal and She-Hulk smashing "puny self-esteem issues"), taking what could have been a rote anthology into a fun entry into the F4's new canon. Read Full Review
This Wedding Special delivers a few non-essential but thoroughly enjoyable peeks at the preparations for the big day. It has tremendous heart, but also a surprisingly edgy portrayal of Alicia. That keeps it from being all fluff and ensures it provokes thought. It's separated from all-time greatness only by a (slight) lack of memorable art. Read Full Review
Overall, this book is worth a pickup. I can't wait to see what Johnny has planned for the Bachelor Party. Read Full Review
I liked this special, but make sure you go in with the expectation of nobody getting married just yet. If you've been married I can imagine you'll relate to the drams within, which tells you something about the narratives since they do capture reality well. Read Full Review
A fun comic leading up to the wedding issue, providing good humor and heart backed up by enjoyable artwork. It's a good self-contained read for any fans of the Fantastic Four. Read Full Review
I wish I could say they're terrific tales, but they're just... ok. Read Full Review
It's a light-hearted issue written in good fun with a sweet ending, but rather light on action. Read Full Review
This one gets a pass from me, as there's nothing here that feels special or essential to even the most hardcore of FF fans. Read Full Review
There's no shortage of wedding tie-in comics from 2018 to compare this one to. If the whole thing had been of the same quality as the Slott and Buckingham story, I would say this is the best of all of them; as it was, one great story out of three isn't quite enough to elevate this book past a BROWSE for me. Maybe I've just grown fatigued from all of the comic book event weddings this year. Read Full Review
The Gail Simone story was fun, but was getting a little gross when Alicia started undressing a stripper because she's blind. It was weird. The Dan Slott story was actually great. It felt the most like a Fantastic Four story. The Fred Hembeck story was fine. It was definitely a way to fill out the last few pages. That's it. I mean, it does take a tour through continuity, which is fun but otherwise it doesn't do much.
The Ben & Puppet Master story is a delight: a near-perfect homage to the glory days of Lee & Kirby.
I mean, it's fine, it's a fine read with some fun moments, but was it really worth it?
Honestly this was mostly miss for me. I don’t know these characters and I thought the strip club scene was surprisingly gross, which made me really sad because I love Gail Simone.
