OverallA fantastic issue to close out the story arc on. The backstory is handled fantastically by Gene Luen Yang who has done a great job of building this world over the last seven issues. The next arc is already set up and ready to go. And I for one can't wait to read it. Hopefully, we get a little more Chinese mysticism thrown into the pot as that is an aspect of this comic that I have truly enjoyed. Read Full Review
Dike Ruan delivers some amazing visual flair to every page and panel. There is a great energy to the action and even the quieter visual moments have emotional weight and tension. Read Full Review
The storytelling here continues to be solid overall, but this definitely feels like a transition chapter in the grand scheme of things. Read Full Review
If you are a fan of the character and have been following the story so far then I recommend this one. Otherwise wait until the trade paperback comes out or go back and read all of the series in one go to get the story properly. Read Full Review
I think this series is ideal for the classic younger comics demographic: not "all-ages" tots and tweens, but teenage readers. The strong, simple language; the broad strokes plotting, the scruffy, dynamic art -- all are great for youthful eyes. And all are on pretty strong display here in this issue.
This was better than last issue, but the whole backstory is just kind of boring. Especially if you've seen the movie.
