Overall. A really cool issue, which introduces a few new threats to the series. Read Full Review
Dike Ruan delivers some great art throughout the issue. There are some great, expressive character moments and the atmosphere is beautifully done. The panels do a great job of building on the tension of the story and the action is visually thrilling. Read Full Review
Shang-Chi #7 provides a lot of background information that is engaging but doesn't connect us to the title character. Read Full Review
The story itself isn't all that different to other versions that we've been told of in the past, which makes the retelling here somewhat uninteresting. Read Full Review
Great Artwork.
Interesting Premise.
Shang's mom's backstory segues into the big showdown with the antagonist, explaining his identity with perfect timing.
It's a straightforward narrative delivered with fair storytelling skill, particularly in the art. I love the watercolor colors.
To call this especially good, though, I'd need to see a twist or complication in the plot or some memorable prose, but they just aren't there. This issue is well above average -- but it's equally far from great.
I liked the movie version a bit better.
It's ok. Just the movie origin with a twist so far. Love the artist in the series though.
