People, we're dealing wtih some mega-ultimate above your paygrade type shit in this volume of Ultimates. Threats of the highest order are coming out the woodwork while we're still trying to CSI our way through space to find out who chained Eternity. Read Full Review
But, this is still a great book. A book you should buy. A series you should buy if you liked Hickmanesque Space drama's with Cosmic Beings. More of this Marvel. More of this. Read Full Review
This series, so far, has taken the first Ultimates story and improved upon it tenfold in terms of scale and delight. This is reflected in the script and the artwork. The visual side of the comic is beautiful and elegant at times, and the colours couldn't look any more realistic. The things we see are surreal, but the colours ground them to a certain extent. We're very pleased with Issue #2. Read Full Review
Ultimates 2 #2 pulls you in completely if you were still waiting for something big to put you at ease about getting to whose caged Eternity. It will be a ways to go to reach that point, but all the things set up through this issue? Yeah, that says enough about what we've been missing caring too much about Earth's problems. The Ultimates solve big problems, and they've got more than enough to handle now. Read Full Review
Story somewhat slowed down in this issue though the final pages were pretty cool and made up for it. Not good as previous one but this issue is good enough to warrant the attention of readers. Read Full Review
Ultimates2 #2 is a stumble in an otherwise outstanding saga unfolding under the pen of Al Ewing. It lacks the humor and kinetic pacing of the previous issue, but the final outcome is interesting and promises continued intrigue in the near future. The art supporting the story, while well-intentioned, still makes this book feel less grandiose than it should. Despite the Ultimates' mantra, it's not always the huge problems that pose the biggest threats — sometimes it's the simpler, more fundamental ones. Read Full Review
Ewing has an amazing knowledge of deep-cut Marvel continuity and he's not afraid to use it. And he's not only acknowledging recent stories by other writers here (something that certain big event writers can't be bothered doing), but he's building on them to tell his own. I can't wait to see where this is going.
I'm enjoying this series so far. Al Ewing does deep cosmic in a way others can't, breaking out the heavy hitters (Living Tribunal, Eternity, etc.) Travel Foreman also does a great job with the art here. This is a fun, epic book.
Another fantastic issue. I think Rocafort’s work fits this series better than Foreman’s. Vol 1 is still better in my opinion but still a tremendous read
Well. I wasn't expecting that to happen.
SCORE: 7.1
The story is fine and they are building to something but the artwork is horrendous and completely takes away from this book.
I'm loving this series. But I'm hating the artwork. Last series, the artwork was amazing. Now it's dumbed-down cg-porn artwork. What the hell?! Stop shitting on the story with this paint-by-number
I ended up skimming.
