And once again, Jerome Opena's artwork is gorgeous to behold. His original character designs are inspired, and it's a shame he wasn't able to tackle the new X-Force uniforms himself. It would be fun to see what could be done with this darker, more driven Psylocke apart from tinting her leotard black. Opena also shows great skill with action and choreography. Given that so much of this issue involves mutants beating on other mutants, his talents are put to very good use. Combined with Dean White's attractive and effective color work, Uncanny X-Force becomes the best-looking X-book, as well as the best-written one. Read Full Review

"Uncanny X-Force" is a great example of how to take a basic concept (the X-Men's secret strike team) and make it your own without throwing away the concept itself. This isn't just a better book in general, it's also a more welcoming title. This is a force worth checking out. Read Full Review

Even with this limitation the team itself works well in its own dysfunctional way. And I will give credit to writer Rick Remender for breathing some much needed life and charm back into Psylocke. For at least an issue I actually cared about the character again. Worth a look. Read Full Review

The interesting concepts and the strength of Opena's art is certainly enticing, but the faults of this issue are simply too much for these to overcome. For every step forward that this issue makes, it takes another big step back with an overwritten script, a move backward for Deadpool's characterization, and coloring that simply doesn't work. This book has a ton of potential, but issues like this make me wonder how long I'm willing to stick around to see if it will live up to it. Read Full Review
