Death is a specter that haunts the pages of Vengeance of the Moon Knight #3, as Soldier is allowed to react in therapy to Marcs death. The scripting from McKay uses this as an opportunity to accelerate the plot as the Midnight Mission makes plans to strike back against the faux-Moon Knight. Coupled with Cappuccios art, which puts a heavy emphasis on the emotions of Soldier and Tiagra specifically, the issue makes clear reactionary emotions are in control as the action explodes onto the page. Rounded out by Rosenbergs tense, subtle color palettes, the book continues to give Marcs death the space to breathe and influence the world around the Midnight Mission. This issue proves just how human this supernaturally twinged book is, blending the raw emotion and gripping action to deliver a story that feels like the platonic ideal of a Marvel comic. Vengeance Of The Moon Knight #3 gives Soldier solid character work, and the last-scene development has possibilities. However, nothing of note happens in this issue, and MacKay neglects to stoke the flames of the “new” Moon Knight's mystery identity. Read Full Review
When I opened up this issue, I was incredibly excited to see that Soldier was getting an issue focused on him. Now, after reading, I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. MacKay continues to do a great job with Marc's supporting cast in this series, and I'm sure that will remain true when the next issue is, presumably, centered around Hunter's Moon. Back to this, however, I really liked the way MacKay wrote Soldier's inner-turmoil about Marc's death, as well as how Soldier was really stepping up to combat this new Moon Knight. On top of that, Cappuccio, once again, puts out some beautiful art.
Super fun issue. I like the way its going.
A good issue. Nothing special, but did give us a good look at the Soldier character and it continues to strengthen the midnight mission team.
It was interesting that this issue was told from Soldier's point of view. I don't know too much about this character. I like the tactical message that he spouts in that too much pressure on the made guys will make them lash out. They are seeing the repercussions of this. The mystery of who the new Moon Knight is remains elusive, however, I think they might reveal it next issue.
