Wan's takeover of Dream's realm is nearly complete. As his identity slips away, Abel only has one secret left in his pocket. And poor, tortured Lucien, lost and without purpose, longs for nothing but release, and to return to the foundations of the Dreaming. So why can't he go? Does he have a purpose yet to serve? If he wants to die...why must he continue to pay the high cost of living?
Simon Spurrier's run on The Dreaming has given us a story that lives up to Neil Gaiman's original Sandman story. He has managed to give us a fun ride, now it just remains to be seen if he can bring it to a satisfying conclusion. Read Full Review
It's another powerful issue in what has been a gem of a series. Read Full Review
A stellar and emotional chapter that propels us towards the end of Spurrier and Evely' s beautifully complex run on The Dreaming. Read Full Review
Spurrier has taken on a near-impossible task of following Gaiman and has mostly stuck the landing. Read Full Review
The ending tease is something that the series has certainly needed earlier than this to establish things better but at the same time I understand why they kept separate for so long and that beings of this nature do not act quickly at all. Spurrier has a lot going on here and I'm not following all of it anymore as things feel more complex than they need to be at times. But I'm enjoying various character stories since they're smaller and easier to connect with, making for a more engaging time. And with such rich and gorgeous artwork as we get, even if there was no story it would be worth it just for that alone. Read Full Review
Another great issue, making this series another great issue in the Sandman Universe. The characterisation has been fantastic and I love seeing where the characters are going, even if it does seem to be to new depths. While everything seems to be coming to a head it’s difficult to know where it’s going to go and what will happen next. And it’s this mystery, this unknown, which helps bring me back issue after issue to find out what’s coming. Read Full Review
The Dreaming #17 is a heartbreaking and suspenseful nail biter. A lot happens but nothing feels rushed or brushed over. This issue may be one of my favorites from the series. Pick this issue up at your local comic book shop or wherever you get comics. Read Full Review
Another solid issue for me.
Something is really wrong with the AI and this issue really does great to drive up the tension on what that may be. How Lucien cannot die, where/why is Cain missing and how is that person at the very end? It’s a dead heat between this and Lucifer as to what the best formally-Vertigo series is currently.
Another excellent issue with a great surprise at the end.
This is good, but I'd be lying if I said I care to know what happens next. Or that I've been turned around on this comic's message. This is the most you'll get from me, unfortunately.
