It all works as well as most of the MU episodes ever have. A mid-level dark Trek adventure with plenty of spy action.

An outstanding issue that is doing a lot of heavy lifting in terms of story and canon continuation. It is everything a die-hard Trekkie could hope for.

This is another well-crafted issue, although there is nothing groundbreaking going on, the talent of the creatives is sincerely evident on every page.

A creepy kid story that just barely touches on nature vs nurture when it comes to these kids of famed baddies.

Another scathing criticism of luxury cruise vacations.

"G.I. Joe" is delivering the goods with brooding storytelling and popcorn action.

By no means terrible, but if you're looking for spooky stories set in the "Star Wars" galaxy, it has been done better elsewhere.

Fans of these characters will enjoy their return, but it offers nothing more than a sequel for sequel's sake. It's not bad, but there is a reason why the movie was a cult hit and anything beyond that like, 2012's Napoleon Dynamite: The Animated Series, is destined to be forgotten.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chosen Ones" #1 is an excellent compilation put together by a creative team comprised of pros and new-comers, all of whom are wildly different, yet equally talented storytellers. This is exactly the type of spin-off Buffy fans should be waiting for.

"Blade Runner 2019" #2 moves confidently through its story with compelling writing and great art.

A wretched hive of scum and villainy that may be more than anyone expected.

A premiere filled with been there, done that 'end of civilization' beats with an original point of origin and some fantastic ideas throughout. Paired with a talented art team, this is a book that can hit new heights with the right choices.

A fairly solid hero story with a strong character at its center. It is only hindered by its reliance on previous stories throughout Marvel Comics.

The only way out is through, and this side-step only made the anticipation for what's next that much greater. Like Wilfred, we are all 'The Misplaced Man.'

Mildly fun, hardly entertaining, dry Vader action. Greg Pak's stuff is starting to feel enslaved by the Disney machine.

A quick and confident read,"Lab Raider" #1 carries multiple story threads that move between corporate sabotage and haunting thriller set to bright, beautiful art.

A fairly funny one-shot that lives up to the quality of a mid-range episode of Rick & Morty as a pair of spawned Meeseeks search for the meaning of life. It loses its balance more than once but does its best to course correct throughout.

A balanced second half wraps up this most recent arc; giving us plenty of heart and truly disturbing imagery.

This book is a must for Star Trek fans and I hope it continues far past the Tholian problem and shows us many more missions. This creative team truly understands how to keep things fresh and exciting while sticking to the original continuity. Fans of all ages should be very pleased.

Classic Elvira humor and fans will get a kick out the nods to horror and the mistress of the macabre's big round"pumpkins.

A smartly crafted sci-fi tale that dabbles between superhero adventure and layered mystery.

An exciting and haunting tale of the hunter and the hunted, this small scale Boba Fett story is exactly the adventure he deserves.

As a midway point, "Black Hammer '45" #3 is still a well done and mostly emotionally satisfying read but has yet to prove itself as one of the stronger spin-offs.

A very good continuation that slows down a little more than it should at this point. However, beautiful art will keep you turning the page.

A key story showing an evolution in Princess Leia's character that we've always understood, but have only seen first hand a few times. Fast paced and perfectly executed, this is the Leia fans have always loved.

A faithful and fun "Ghostbusters" adventure, with plenty of talent on display, but falls a little flat in originality.

A quick and entertaining read that continues all of the series strengths and faults.

An OK, and truthfully, jarring change to Eddie and the Venom symbiote's lives. Cates is doing his best with the story being told, it just isn't that interesting.

A well crafted "Discovery" tale that builds on Saru and his character's trajectory and serves as an excellent bridge between the two t.v. seasons. Though not for the casual reader, it is an absolute treat for the faithful Trekkie.

An exciting monster-mash with all the expected super-heroics of Kara Zor-El. A crucial finale and jumping off point for regular readers, but newcomers will be lost.

An exciting Vader adventure that sees him in a slightly different light than fans are used to. Solid writing and standard Marvel/Star Wars art fare make for a very enjoyable read.

Readers of all kinds will find something to love in this genre-bending mash-up of True Detective, The Thing, and superheroes.

A good action romp with some ties to the greater Hulk story, but is light on any true importance and ultimately forgettable in the sea of superhero comics.

Quick action and dialogue make for an extremely fun team-up that will have Bruce Campbell and B-Horror fans screaming with delight.

"Anakin Skywalker #1" is a well-written Clone Wars story that handles some fairly deep ideas and emotional decisions at a quick clip.

"Teen Titans" Annual #1 is full of solid action and stake-raising dialogue with greater darkness just out of sight. Even with ties to recently passed story-lines, it is still an exciting book for readers new and old.

Like the characters that inhabit it, "The Avant-Guards" #1 is a cute and friendly story of acceptance and finding your place in the world.

Chock full of fun GB references, but it hardly stands on its own. It's not great for long-time readers or newcomers as a one-shot. If you regularly collect the series it's a fine addition to pick up, but it is a bad jumping on point. It will definitely work best collected in a future trade paperback or series omnibus.

Built up by an incredible creative team, "Life is Strange" #2 is an outstanding sequel and a must-read for fans.

The series's boldness, and the talent behind it, continue to shine. However, grander steps in plot need to be taken as we approach the finale.

A dark and angst-filled Sith adventure that looks great and is decently told, but holds little weight while re-treading existing material.

Lots of fun world building and magic adventure for fans of all ages. Like its young hero, this is one mini-series that has great potential to prove great worth.

"Labyrinth: Under the Spell" really is an enjoyable addition to the Labyrinth universe, but is aimed at readers who are a huge fan of the film to begin with.

An interesting dark mystery that hints at some supernatural horror ahead.

The strongest issue of this miniseries so far building towards a major upheaval in this shared universe.

An O.K. continuation of Romero's Dead universe that is a bit more over-the-top than the movies, but does not fully dig the franchise out of the rut the last few films left it in.

A very good side-step to the Batman canon, allowing for even more material than books like "Detective Comics" can offer in one shot.

An enjoyable Halloween Special that will keep die-hard fans of the franchise turning pages, but it isn't as good as we would hope.

A solid Mystique story with all the violence and shape-shifting fans of the character could hope for. An intriguing addition to this min-series that makes the finale that much more enticing.

A mashup of character histories that just doesn't come together in the way it was planned. A solid art team saves this from being a total loss, but this will mostly appeal to readers looking to complete their "What If?" collection.

The decent premiere issue of this horror-lite anthology miniseries sets up an intriguing continuing story that is worthy of a pickup.

A decent, campy horror tale that adequately continues the adventures of young Elvis Presley in his fight against evil.

A good start getting "Dick Tracy" back into the spotlight and only loses its way when it dabbles in unnecessary details.

An OK dark, sci-fi book with some decent alien designs, but the plot is uneven, wading through thick exposition when it should be focusing on its strengths: B-horror and violent action scenes.

A cute horror-comedy-fantasy that feels a bit too similar to things you've seen before, but with Sarah Graley's own lively spark.

"Blackwood" #4 is a great, if not text-heavy final issue in the wonderfully creepy mini-series.

A creepy, exciting, and wildly enjoyable Squad book that hits all the right beats and is easy to follow whether or not you read the series.

A very good finale to a series with a character that hasn't always gotten her fair share.

A good issue, but not the strongest we have gotten from this series. New reveals and questions help to keep things fresh.

An excellent all-ages fantasy/sci-fi yarn that doesn't reinvent the genre, just takes it in an extremely satisfying direction.

A villain-centric character study, with bloody violence strewn throughout, that may leave readers scratching their heads over what's to come.

An imbalanced re-introduction that tries its hand at a few different paths and does not succeed at any of them.

One of the greatest moments in the entire run of "Black Hammer." A powerful (and fun) issue for anyone that loves comics books.

Adding some more fun to this current "Robocop" adventure, the satire and mad action work much better than most of the heavy, dark dramatic elements.

An emotional rollercoaster that is sure to please comic book fans from all walks of life and it is a must-read for fans of the "Black Hammer" universe.

A must read for "Judge Dredd" fans that boasts an action-packed, but intelligent plot that will make readers beg for the next chapter. This is one of the best issues since IDW started their version in 2012.

View Issue       View Full Review

A mostly unfunny plot that tries too hard at the absurd that still has a few moments of what makes Invader Zim great in the first place.

View Issue       View Full Review

A fun over-sized issue with good writing and great art filled with Superman adventures that both avid readers and casual fans can pick up and enjoy.

View Issue       View Full Review

A moderately fun tale of horror and monsters, with some nice gore, but does not have enough strength to pull in most readers outside of long-time Pumpkinhead fans.
