You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
Apr 22, 2026The whole issue quite casually opens-up with a jaw-droppingly deep look at one of Diana’s most overlooked powers: her beauty. It’s mentioned at the beginning of ever Golden Age Wonder Woman story: she is as beautiful as Aphrodite. Thompson does a clever bit of background at the opening of the issue. Aphrodite’s feelings on this are registered for what might be the first time ever. There’s a curse that comes along with htat power and Aphrodite never had the occasion to have it turned back on her...until she started spending time with Diana. It’s a deeply moving 4-page opening scene. Wow. Read Full Review

Apr 23, 2026Absolute Wonder Woman #19 is yet another phenomenal entry in DC Comics best series. Kelly Thompson, Hayden Sherman, and Jordie Bellaire show us how every action has a consequence. Whether that is good or bad depends on the characters. That along with the revelations made about what makes Diana of the Wild Isle adds a whole new layer of intrigue for her relationship with other people and the world. Read Full Review

Apr 22, 2026The high cost of love might be too much for Diana and Zatanna to pay in another epic chapter of the Absolute Universe. Thompson drives home the painful choices made with an excellent script. Sherman and Bellaire craft absolutely incredible pages with the art. Few series can come close to the high quality on display with this series. Read Full Review

Apr 22, 2026Despite the problems with this arc, Absolute Wonder Woman continues to be a great alternative to the mainline Wonder Woman title and like any ongoing comic series, you’re going to have growing pains, some worse than others. You just have to take some ibuprofen and keep on chucking. Read Full Review

Kelly continues to world build and make this version of Diana the very best in comics today. My only notes are the villain was defeated far too easily. One minute he melted her arm off. The next issue he’s beaten in a few panels and now reformed. Regardless of that this book still stands out among all the Absolute titles along side Batman.
Kelly is killing it. -
