It's a very entertaining story, with lots of car chases, fights and other action. The Bensons seem to have decided, Lets get back to basics. There is not alot of needless exposition or characterization. We know who the Birds are, they know themselves and each other. Its a tight little narrative that simply tells a good story, a pleasant palette cleanser amidst all the over-hyped events.More comics should do so well. Read Full Review
It's nice to have a one off story. But, it's even better when that story is meaningful. Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #18 not only tells a fun story of international espionage, but it also adds to the relationship between the three main characters. The Birds of Prey concept has always been about the relationship between the characters, and the success of this version is no different. This current version has managed to find that sweet spot with the characters and it's just a joy to see them interact. My only question is when Zinda will rejoin the team. Read Full Review
'Batgirl and The Birds of Prey' has and always will be a series that lives on the relationship between the three heroines, and the Benson Sisters have done a great job at making that a focus of this issue. Read Full Review
This issue is a straightforward action issue that doesnt break any new ground but is an efficiently and effectively told story. I continue to like this title and am enjoying reading it. Read Full Review
Overall,Batgirl and The Birds of Preywas an enjoyable but largely forgettable read. While the Birds of Prey's chemistry still was a joy to read, the main villain was generically forgettable. Read Full Review
It's a serviceable issue without much obviously wrong with it, but that's the best that can be said. Read Full Review
The good news is my prayers for a new art team for this comic were answered. The bad news is that Roge Antonio was replaced with Marcio Takara, whose work here is sadly closer to his recent sloppy and over-inked run on Detective Comics than his work on All-New Wolverine. Read Full Review
The artwork is a bit different than I'm used to for this series. I'm not sure if this is a new and permanent change, or if it's just part of the one-shot nature of this issue. While I didn't dislike the style, it was a little bit jarring to jump into it (especially after having just read the second most recent issue, but that's my bad for being so far behind). It's choppier on the whole, and I don't really love the way Batgirl (or more specifically Barbara Gordon) is portrayed. The rougher nature makes it all look more comical (no pun intended), which is fine for a lighter issue like this, but I would be concerned should this art style be used alongside a heavier plot. A fun caper in Paris and nice artwork provide worthwhile entertainment at first; but rereading Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #18 exaggerates silly dialogue and sloppy details. If you know what you're getting into, and you've got the cash to spare, it may be worth picking up; otherwise, pass. Read Full Review
If you're after a brief and harmless distraction, then the join-the-dots style Mission: Impossible narrative may suit your tastes. However, if you're hoping for a proper Birds of Prey adventure which shows the characters at their best, you'll have to look elsewhere. Yes, there's that one solitary moment of genius in Batgirl And The Birds Of Prey #18, but sadly it's buried under all the mediocrity of the rest of it. Read Full Review
The Birds of Prey are in Paris for a few days to thrill, but the end result wasn't too thrilling and at this point I think that this title needs a complete overhaul because I find myself bored by the end of each issue more often than not and besides for mentioning two of our characters' lives during the DCYou era and referencing characters and groups within the DCU, there isn't much to this story at all. If you are a Grayson fan you may enjoy this, but for Batgirl and the Birds of Prey this one-shot doesn't offer too much in story or art. Read Full Review
Mostly a forgettable entry to what has been an enjoyable series. Things just seemed to happen in this one-off story that weren't really connected to anything that has been going on. Hopefully this is just a hiccup.
Birds of Prey hold a lot of potential, due to different personalities or each team member. There's room for serious storytelling, and lighthearted comedy, the latter being used from time to time in the past, and sometimes actually landing.
This issue felt like a 10th season of a TV show, where all the fresh ideas are gone, and writers just don't know where to go and what to do, other than keeping the story on its current, fillery track. There's no real tension, nor suspense. Just unimaginative dialogues with generic action in between.
Readable, but there's no denying Bird of Prey are one of the weaker runs in otherwise super strong Rebirth line.
