The Joker's back-and he wants to turn Batman and Robin into a punchline once and for all! The original Clown Prince of Crime returns to stalk Neo-Gotham in part two of "The Final Joke"! Can you guess what happens when he encounters Barbara Gordon for the first time in decades? And when Robin gets caught on a video feed for the first time, no one's more delighted than The Joker.
I'm just loving this story. Terry finally faces the original Batman's greatest foe, with his brother's life on the line. This promises to be Terry's greatest challenge yet. Read Full Review
An explosive futuristic thriller of the finest kind! Read Full Review
The story is fast paced and doesn't let up. Jurgens really turns up the speed and it's truly exhausting and exhilarating. The art matches the story perfectly. This is a great storyline that is only getting better every time you turn the page! Read Full Review
With the Joker's return, we're all wondering what he'll do next. We're reminded that he sought out Barbara first, and tried to paralyze her again. The Joker is a creature of habit, and he might want to have history repeat itself. Read Full Review
Beyond was always a great mix of action, adventure and sci-fi, so I'm on board for the foreseeable future! Read Full Review
Overall, a solid issue and I am definitely interested in reading more. Read Full Review
I do like the idea of the Joker being reintroduced into the Batman Beyond universe, but I'm hoping that Dan Jurgens has more tricks up his sleeve than just homicidal nostalgia. Read Full Review
Batman Beyond continues to be one of DC's most entertaining books, with classic comic book action, character development, and beautifully kinetic art. Read Full Review
And maybe this all has an effect on Bruce's stance on anyone being Batman. By helping Terry do what he does he's putting another young man's life in danger. As much as Terry can handle it and is capable of making his own choices, the guilt may become too much for Bruce. Read Full Review
Batman Beyond #26 is a delicious mouthful but will leave you hungry. Jurgens' has established a steady pace in previous arcs and this one is no different; exciting stuff happens in this issue but seemingly nothing of any lasting consequence. Read Full Review
But toJurgens credit, he played the long game by seeding the Jokers return severalissues ago. Some readers (including myself) may have chosen to not believe whatour eyes showed us, only to have forgetten it a month later when the followingissue was released. IN this chapter, Bruce mentions the voice, but thats thefailing of reading vs. listening: you dont actually hear the voice. Otherwise we may have recognized Joker for who hewas. Read Full Review
While I love that we have a new Robin in this book and love the idea of Joker coming back for this arc...... the reality is that while we have those things, they really aren't being utilized great in the series and everything that we get out of this just comes off as boring to get to our big cliffhanger, which comes off cliche. I love the art team on this book, but I don't think that they're enough to save this mediocre series. Read Full Review
Sadly, this issue is a letdown and serves mostly as a harbinger that Batman Beyond is about to go where plenty of previous Batman/Joker stories have gone before. Read Full Review
This was not bad. Art is getting better and better.
This was alright. I had an okay time reading it. There's a lot of stuff in this issue that isn't really about the Joker's return. Jurgens' pacing is very relaxed. Sometimes too relaxed. And this is a case of that. The stakes don't feel real yet.
Well after reading this issue, I have a hunch they are trying to do a Death in the Family beyond. Just a small hunch. Nothing really happened except bunch of force dialogue. Art was nicely done. But ultimately the force of Death in the Fanily was a bit too much.
I still don’t care about future stories.
