Blue & Gold #5 is another fine issue of Dan Jurgens' highly entertaining buddy story. Booster and Blue Beetle are two of DC's best characters, but they are criminally underused. It's great that Jurgens has brought them back, even if it's just for an eight-issue miniseries. Hopefully, this series will lead to further appearances of these heroes in other DCU titles. This book started off strong but now I am not interested. Sad cause I love the idea and the characters involved. Jurgens still has it but maybe this is a minor hiccup in his stellar career.

Just really bored with the dialogue, the confusing action, and generally bad comedic material. Generally kind of regretting subbing to this, it's grown steadily more tedious by each issue. I skip the social media bubbles now entirely. There's only so many times one can read the word "deepfake" until it becomes clear the writer read it once and wants to work it in as much as possible. Plus it feels like the concept of the series - Booster and Beetle are taking on superheroics for "everyone else", whatever that means - is being repeated ad nauseam. It's 5 issues in an 8 issue series, yet every issue keeps feeling like the first. If this series is Ghostbusters with superheroes, then it's chosen a very strange way of pacing its plot if we're on ly just getting to their "clientele". We have 3 issues left! more
