As soon as I see Hayden Sherman is on art for this issue, I know I'm in for something special, as Sherman's art is some of the most spectacular in the industry as we see regularly on Absolute Wonder Woman and Batman: Dark Patterns. Read Full Review
This issue is crazy fun for an all out death match story. Williamson of course, adds depth to the conflict keeping it from feeling too gratuitous or cliched. It also still feels relevant to the overall plot of the series even without Clark making an appearance. Read Full Review

Now in retrospect, I think the finale is going to be Superman vs the Joker, which I might have picked had I known Joker was in it. (In fact, I think Superman is going to have to kill the Joker to get the power to defeat Darkseid forcing him into another soul-searching storyline.) Superman #33 nails the creative matchup and story concept but stumbles hard on the fundamentals. Lex Luthor versus a demon should be a showcase for tactical brilliance, but Sherman's unclear artwork undermines every panel. You're reading dialogue about strategy while looking at a visual mess that doesn't communicate what's actually happening. The battle itself is conceptually clever enough to hold your attention, and Lex's character work is solid, but that's not enough to justify the cover price when the execution fails this badly. Similar to this week’s Flash KO issue, the winner of this battle was never in doubt. However, what elevates the story once again is the deep dive into Luthor’s psyche and how he sees himself at this point in time to figure out his strategy and next moves. Also enjoyed the interlude with Prime and Lois as they hatch their own plan to help save the day. I prefer Sherman’s Absolute WW art style over his work here, but it’s still enjoyable.
as if anyone was upset the demon lost lol
