While the Titans have spent months responding to Source Wall-related threats, Mother Blood and the Blood Cult have been studying that energy and learning to harness it for their own malevolent purposes. In this special villain-focused issue, discover what the Cult has been up to and why everything the Titans have done up to this point may have been for naught, and how they just might be playing into the ultimate trap!
Overall this book was a decent read, I didn't know much about the Blood Cult, so it's good to be able to read a somewhat origin story about them. I know Abnett didn't give us much Titans in this issue, but that's because he's saving it all up for the next one I'm sure! Also don't forget that Raven's soul self is still trapped in Unearth as well, meaning that a rescue mission will be underway along with the confrontation with the cult! Can't wait to read the next issue! Read Full Review
While it's unfortunate the best issue of the Titans of late has next to nothing to do with the titular group, it puts the title into a very interesting spot with the buildup of this Mother Blood battle looming large. Read Full Review
This all seems like its going to lead a very exciting adventure for the Titans who feels very much in control of every action that they will take. Read Full Review
Im really excited about the direction is heading towards in 2019. Its an easy lock for me as one of the sleeper books you need to keep an eye on this year. Read Full Review
All in all, despite my criticisms, this issue still kept me intrigued for what is coming next. While I can't say I'm the biggest Brother Blood or Blood Cult fan, the ideas are interesting and I will certainly be reading onwards. This issue just feels like a slight misstep in a series I am otherwise enjoying quite a lot, so while I may have appeared to talk down on it, overall I would still recommend giving this one a read. Hate to say it, but despite this issue, which is not a bad one, I am still left feeling that it would be wisest to just pull the plug on this series. Read Full Review
This issue is really entertaining and well written for the most part. However, near the end it drags quite a bit and there isn't a whole lot of story progression if any at all. That being said, It was a page-turner and I can't really complain too much about that. Read Full Review
An unfortunate misstep from a usually-reliable writer, this issue plays it far too safe to be compelling. There are some hints of good things to come, but readers will at least need to wait until next issue to discover them. Read Full Review
Unfortunately, just like most of the rest of this title, it's not that interesting " more a series of ideas in search of a plotline. Read Full Review
I thought that was awesome. I love this series.
I was a little worried by this issue. I'm not a blood fan. I didn't like any brother blood version even if I kind of respect Wolfman/Perez one. And this issue beggin strangely by recap Garth's vision.
But I have to say the Power Rising was very nicely done. I really like Mother Blood scheme. It can be seen as another transitional issue, but I think this origin is essential to be more attach to Mother Blood.
Cover - Not really link because the titans don't face Mother yet. But that may be to implied the fact that Mother manipulate them. 1.5/2
Writing - Maybe a little slow, I prefere the story once Mother is herself than before with brother blood. 2.5/3
Art - I'm love Henry but I have too say the beginning with blood more
The art is very good however felt that this issue could easily been cut in half and other half give us progression in the story with the titans. The beginning of the issue was quite very boring! Quite sad that had high hopes for last issue but this issue felt like it stopped the momentum train.
Blood vessels. Haemo sapiens. I refuse. This was the best issue in a while, but only because the Titans weren’t in it. I think this villain is pretty boring.
Why spend an entire issue explaining the origins of a lame villain?
I am a big fan of the Titans, but this book is a mess. The Titans barely appear in it at all. The art is okay, but it's a story that hold no interest at all.
Let's get Gar back to his normal self and get rid of the "Beast" you're trying to turn him into and let's make the book interesting again, with good character writing and good adventures.
