While it was rewarding to see the turtles pick up the pieces of their falling comrades, the really accomplishment of this issue was the organic and emotional setup for the collision course to come in issue #50. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Nick Nafpliotis Apr 28, 2015

But this issue isn't just some weird, David Lynchian exploration of the space between life and death. Waltz digs deep into the fall out the previous battle, which I found to be infinitely more engaging. Read Full Review

Geeked Out Nation - Ian Yoxon Apr 30, 2015

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #45 is a must read when we see what happens next for Donatello along with seeing how some of the characters deal with what happened in the previous story arc. It's a nice way to transition into the next one as we see hints that the villains will be back. Read Full Review

Boy is it a good time to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. Not only are we still excited about the recent film (though some may argue against that case), and entertained by the animated adventures from Nickelodeon (albeit it' not as good as the original animated series), but with such bold events happening in the comic world it's just impossible not to shout, "Turtle Power." It's disappointing to see this issue backpedal, though this month's cliffhanger at least suggests the book will continue pursuing unexpected angles. Read Full Review

Comic Vine - Corey 'Undeadpool' Schroeder Apr 29, 2015

There still look to be some interesting, long-lasting changes for what happened last issue carrying on with this one, even if they aren't AS grim as they at first appeared, which helps to balm what feels at first like a total fake out. The writing and art are also strong enough to tell a solid, compelling story driven by its characters, which also goes a long way to helping the swerve not come off as a total gimmick. This is still one of the best comics at balancing its light-heartedness with gritty drama, and while its hard to entirely agree with the direction this issue takes, its easy to see the quality of the creative team shine through. Big Comic Page - Craig Neilson Apr 28, 2015

The final few pages leave us with a unexpected new dynamic for the team moving forward, and with the creative team subtly shifting pieces in the background to set up the next chapter of their story, I have no doubt that readers dipping into this series as a result of the increased media coverage due to thecontroversial events of the previous issue will find themselves completely and utterly hooked, kicking themselves for not picking up this title sooner. We The Nerdy - Chris White Apr 30, 2015

All in all, the issue was enjoyable and it is abundantly clear that the turtles haven't seen the worst yet; they may have destroyed Krang but there are still many others out for their blood. The art direction was bold and beautiful and the writing was solid, albeit slightly floored in places. Hopefully, the next issue brings Donatello back without dragging it on too long and he's stood beside his brothers as the oncoming onslaught awaits. Read Full Review

    Razorfine - Alan Rapp May 5, 2015

The issue also gives us Casey (seemingly fully-healed from his life-threatening injuries) hitting the streets and teases a new partnership for the Shredder and Baxter Stockman which will also likely play a role in the final arc of the series. Worth a look. Read Full Review

TMNT is taking us into uncharted territory now. I've been chomping at the bit to find out what would happen with Donnatello after issue 44 and I'm very excited to see where these new developments take us. I love the dream sequences (for lack of a better description) that are deep and touching. The fall out with the turtles also provides more of their trademark drama that I can't get enough of. I found myself cheering to see Mickey blow up on Raph, you know things are bad if Mikey's temper flares up. The future is sure to be chaotic as the major powers shift and struggle in the aftermath of #44, I can't wait to see how it all turns out. If you are a new reader curious about this book after hearing news about Donatello, I highly recommend you more

I liked the weirdness but perhaps it all came a little too easy?
