I completely agree with this statement!
NEW SERIES! Fifteen years ago, our world was overrun by creatures of myth; orcs, dragons, and other nameless horrors threw the entire planet into total chaos. Today, the shattered remnants of civilization must fight just to survive in a deadly new era of violence and mayhem. While a powerful sorcerer marshals his forces, a group of warriors embark on a journey to reclaim our world from the growing darkness. An all new post-apocalyptic high-fantasy adventure series from co-creators SETH M. PECK (X-Men) and JEREMY HAUN (THE BEAUTY) featuring colors by NICK FILARDI and letters by THOMAS MAUER.

The Realm has a stunning debut issue. It's a perfect introduction that pulls you in from page one. This is an awesome blend of fantasy and dystopia. It's The Walking Dead meets East of West with a dash of Lord of the Rings thrown in. Read Full Review
'The Realm' #1is this week's surprise hit. Peck and Filardi mix it up and deliver a compelling and exciting post-apocalyptic high-fantasy that hooks you with precise execution and stunning art. It defies conventional storytelling to let the reader hit the ground running and tease some fantastical elements that are left to be explored. 'The Realm' doesn't waste any time and it won't waste your money. It's worth every penny. Read Full Review
Overall, this comic is a must-have. Filled with humor and danger, Peck and Hauns apocalyptic story serves as a great introduction to their destroyed new world. Read Full Review
THE REALM #1 is a fantastic opening issue, dealing with dark, gritty post-apocalyptic America using a serious tone and fantastic artistry. Seth Peck introduces characters to a large, interesting cast of characters to drum up interest in this teeming, living world. Read Full Review
'The Realm' wastes no time, grabbing readers by the throat and dragging through a dark and mysterious landscape. This is a world I want to spend a lot of time and I don't even like the fantasy genre. First issues don't get much better than this! Read Full Review
Overall, Issue #1 of "The Realm" is akin to the pilot episode of any large scale series, with the camera at best panning over the cast of characters. But while this initial instalment fails to explore the protagonist Nolan or his fellow survivors in much depth, there are suggestions that the narrative will become more focused with each entry. The Realm is everything necessary in an action adventure with a touch of fantasy. Guns and swords and magic at the end of the world is supposed to be thrilling and Haun and Peck have brought the best. Read Full Review
I have no idea how the history of the Realm unfolded, at what point Middle Earth melded with Middle America, but I really don't care. This book is pure badassery, and the potential here is endless. With visceral gore and dynamic action sequences, a world that is as confounding as it is uncompromising and characters that suit the situation, I'm in. Read Full Review
The Realm #1 is everything that I hope from a new series and more. Despite not giving us a huge lot of excitement, the creative team do a sensational job of introducing us to this dystopian world. The way that they incorporate fantasy and horror elements into this, along with the mystery and tension also helps grab our attention, with the stunning artwork only adding another reason to return for the next instalment. The first issue is a solid start of what is sure to be the next hit that everyone will want. A great beginning and a great mix of genres. Read Full Review
Great world building along with an abundance of story workedin to what feels like a more show than tell style makes this a greatintroductory issue, I just wish a little more focus was put on expanding thelead character as opposed to attempting to introduce all major pieces of thestory. All in all, Realm is an excellent beginning to a tale about the end of the world. The writing's clear, the artwork's remarkable, and the storyline's captivating. The only misgivings I have are the action scenes. Read Full Review
This story feels like Mad Max and Escape from New York, where everything is divided into territories and there are groups that rule and people who profit. Haun and Peck have taken an establishment in science fiction/fantasy that works very well in storytelling and hopefully created a fresh take on heroes and villains. Read Full Review
Mix of different genres but it works really well. Action, mystery, interesting characters and post apocalyptic world which is beautifully drawn by Jeremy Haun. It's like mix of your favourite fantasy, sci-fi and post apocalyptic movies.
"The Realm" is a like a Sci-fi mashup in my opinion mixed with Mad Maxx vibes and the whole messed world in a dystopian state. This book was pure enjoyment from the first page to the last. Bravo to the team! Consisting of Seth M. Peck, Jeremy Haun, Nick Filardi, and Thomas Mauer, which like I said bravo well done all around, from the writing to the great, gritty art that went perfect with the time period. This is on my pull and I recommend anyone fans of worlds in chaos, where you barter goods and add in supernatural creatures you have to fight which makes it a Sci-fi as well is a must for any fan of just great put together books from the art and coloring to the lettering. It all flows go pick up if that is what you like, and even if you domore
Wow! What an AMAZING start to this series. Be sure to grab this on 9/6 and make it the first book you read this week. We highly recommend this book. Can't wait for issue 2.
A fantastic start to an incredibly promising series.
I''m hooked. Variant cover is one of the best covers of the year.
The Realm is good, but it's getting a little more critical praise than I'd expect. It's not much different from your run of the mill dystopian future comic, having orcs and goblins doesn't make it drastically different. So far the main character is somewhat interesting, but the number of other character introductions for one issue is getting a bit carried away. The dude with the axe-gun thing for example; that scene added nothing to the comic, he could have been introduced later in a much more organic way.
Thanks to the preview, I brought it. I'm not a Walking Dead reader. I have read the first TPB, but that's too dark for me.
...
So that's a dark place to live too. I will give you that. And we never see what happen & how. I like the part when they hide from a shadowing form (A treat in the sky that even us don't see). I don't like the fact that human are still human, and do bad stuff.
But I'm intrigued by see Ork, Goblin & other kind of fantasy creature. For now not much sadly.
The art was interesting. Their is room for improvement, but still a great job.
I will wait for the next issue. Well done to the creative team.
