After one of the pilot missions of the sym-soldier program, Rex Strickland was given a highly classified mission by Nick Fury himself. Where exactly did the ancient symbiote know as the Grendel come from?
Decades later, Carnage is on a rampage that will connect him to Knull the symbiote god and only Weapon H can stop him - by picking up where Rex left off!
Rated T+
Weapon Plus feels like an excellent accompaniment to the other Carnage stories and will hopefully continue to present itself that way. Read Full Review
Jed MacKay and co. knock out a homerun in the next chapter of the Weapon Plus series of one shots. If you're looking for a great self contained read despite being attached to a huge event, this issue is perfect. All the benefits of Hulkverine vs Carnage without all the baggage of keeping up with a ton of other books. Read Full Review
Exactly what it says on the tin, this isn't going to blow anyones minds but is mostly enjoyable, recommended for readers who can't get enough of either Absolute Carnage or Weapon H. It can be bypassed though with no loss for fans not determined to collect them all. But if you only buy one tie-in, I'd recommend this one. Read Full Review
Exposition heavy at the start, popcorn-flick action towards the end, Absolute Carnage: Weapon Plus is an unnecessary recap of events prior to the event its branching from (it takes place before Absolute Carnage #1), and whatever hidden secrets its plot unfolds for our protagonist have little impact on said event. A filler story for the Absolute Carnage crowd, and a mere seed planted for a future Weapon Plus story. Read Full Review
COOL.I'M REALLY LIKING THIS WEAPON H.
" Call me Celtus, call me carnage, call me god... Just don't call me late for dinner HAHAHA ! "
- CELTUS CASSIDY
At first I was confused as to why the symbote weapon plus division would be called Weapon V, since this project predates the appearance of Venom. Then I remembered the Roman Numeral numbering thing they do (V=5) and thought that was way more cleaver than it probably was. And the rest of this issue is just a fun read: Great art, Great interactions and great dialog. I'm not familiar with the big, clawed lumberjack, but I can now say my interest in the Weapon H character has been peaked. In summary I can say that Weapon Plus is one of the best AC tie-ins so far and that any self-respecting symbiote fan should check it out
HEAT!!!!!
Prelude:
Well... I wasn't expecting this tie-in one-shot. Makes sense though with Cates' Venom. Let's see how this issue goes.
The Good:
The military aspect of this is the main pull and it works well.
There are some twists and turns that work well.
The characters were interesting to watch as the events unravelled before them.
The Bad:
It is a simple premise with a predictable overall story.
Doesn't add much to Absolute Carnage.
Conclusion:
While it is a basic and predictable story that doesn't add much to the core event, Weapon Plus provides a unique perspective that isn't seen in Absolute Carnage.
I liked this. I thought it was a fun one-shot. I wonder what this Weapon Plus stuff will inevitably amount to, it's pretty odd. But I can't say I'm not excited for what's next.
This one was actually pretty good.
I was constantly aware of how much the military black ops BS was arousing the author, and it had the opposite effect on me.
