SECRET EMPIRE TIE-IN!
• On orders from Captain America, the Superior Octopus is taking the fight to Parker Industries.
• Peter must use the full force of his company to stop Ock and Hydra, but WILL IT BE ENOUGH?!
Rated T+
Slott and Immonen really made the most of this tie-in arc, using the carnage of Secret Empire to further key story threads and accelerate the collapse of Parker Industries. This issue delivers more epic, emotionally charged visuals and sets the stage for what promises to be a fascinating new status quo for Peter Parker in Marvel Legacy. Read Full Review
Amazing Spider-Man #31 brings an end to our wall-crawlers Secret Empire tie-in, but at a tremendous cost. Reflecting everything that our character stands for, the creative team pit Spidey up against Doc Ock in one of their most personal battles to date, with the outcome sure to leave readers speculating as we move into a brand new era for the web-slinger. Amazing Spider-Man #31 delivered an important chapter in Dan Slott's run that sets the stage for the rest of the series after Secret Empire ends. The connection to Secret Empire did hurt the impact to Marvel's blockbuster event. That said, Amazing Spider-Man #31 did a great job in creating several intriguing plotlines following Peter's decision to put an end to Parker Industries. Read Full Review
Spider-Man/PeterParker goes back to basics by the conclusion of this issue, which is a little sadto me in the long run of this story as a whole. However Slott did a good job withthis action oriented tie-in story while also moved the Spider-Man narrative atlarge forward in a big way for the Legacy initiative. Read Full Review
Amazing Spider-Man #31 is a satisfying end to Spider-Man's Secret Empire tie-in, but as a potential endpoint to the larger Parker Industries storyline of the past two years, it rings somewhat hollow. Read Full Review
I've been avoiding Secret Empire like its the plague, and for a while I thought Dan Slott was just going to pull in meaningless tie ins just to get by. I was SO wrong. He used this as an opportunity to end a huge era of Peter Parker. The fall of Parker Industries (which first appeared back in Superior Spider-man) Its moments like this that prove that keeping a writer on a comic for YEARS.. pays off.
Up next.. Marvel Legacy, which it will be nice to get back to the basics.
PS. Immonen's art is great as always, please keep him forever.
This is the Spider Man i waited 4 a long time
Great end to Parker Industries and maybe Peter Parker as we knew him but not as emotional as it should've been. Immonen in with the awesome art to make it so much better!
Parker Industries may have had very Tony Stark moments for this run, but the business going out was only a move and sacrifice Spider-Man would make. Great art too and surprisingly self contained so you don't have to read Secret Empire. 2 arcs in and I'm wondering...where was this greatness earlier in this run?
Liked this conclusion. Not just a Reset Button but organic regression to more traditional/enjoyable version. Nice art. And Otto now has his HYDRA Avengers and his mad revenge for Parker. Aunt May knows!
A step towards making Peter Parker, not Tony Stark is great.
Peter cuts off his Parker Industries nose to spite Doc Ock's face. Which reminds me: Has Pete *really* not deduced that Ock is running around in a cloned Parker body? This issue has a wealth of dramatic plot developments and splashy big-budget visuals thanks to Stuart Immonen, but there's a slippery je ne sais quoi to Dan Slott's script that makes this issue, strong and revelatory as it is, feel like an under-achievement.
A good ending not only for this story, but for the whole Parker Industries era. Slott delivered a nice conclusion and Immonen's art really shined here, especially during the fast-paced scenes.
It all comes tumbling down here, as Peter and Otto match minds, and Peter shows the extent he's willing to go to in order to keep Parker Industries out of Otto's hands. Strong art from Immonen, as always. So the "Secret Empire" crossover ends, and judging from the preview of the next issue, it'll be a doozy.
With Great power there must come great responsibility. Parker making some rough decisions in this run. Nice art and solid action, Superior Octopus is shaping up to be one hell of a villain.
Well, Im looking forward to something new. I wont miss PI
This issue was awesome. I really like it from beginning to end. The action, the art, the story all came together nicely. This is the end of parker industries! I hope the momentum of good issues continues into Marvel. Although the other Spider-Man series is my favorite on the stands this still is a good series that seems to be getting better.
Not as bad as OMD, but still is character regression.
