This is by definition not a filler arc lol
SPIDEY & HIS COSMIC FRIENDS! Who is this space-faring Spider-Man, and who is his crew?! You may recognize Rocket Raccoon and may have heard of Symbie. The other companions will have a huge impact on Spider-Man and may hold a key to some mysteries that have been brewing!
Nikodemu watches events in our universe from her realm. And of everyone she sees, she sends Hellgate to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Peter Parker may have dismissed Hellgate as a cosplaying costumed hero when they first met. But after glimpsing Nikodemu amid Dr Xanto Starbloods rescue, like Luke seeing Obi-Wan on Hoth, Peter's a believer. As order in his universe descends into chaos, Hellgates warning haunts Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man #13. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #13 successfully launches us into Spider-Man's space era, and it leans into cosmic adventure without losing Peter Parker's trademark heart. The space escapades of Peter Parker takes a dramatic turn in this latest chapter. Kelly weaves the self-doubt in-between the chaos with the writing. The Amazing Spider-Man #13 continues the surprising hot-streak of Joe Kelly & Pepe Larraz's new 'Galactic Spider-Man' saga with some fantastic writing for Spider-Man that reminded me succinctly why this is a character worth looking up to. Read Full Review
The Amazing Spider-Man #13 is a powerful continuation of Spider-Man's journey far from home. It's a gripping superhero adventure wrapped around a complex debate about morality and leadership. Read Full Review
Amazing Spider-Man #13 drives home that Peter Parker is still the most interesting character in this series. Especially in comparison to the main story of recent Amazing Spider-Man issues, it is what is going on with Peter that catches your interest. Read Full Review
For a book called Amazing Spider-Man #13, this issue steadfastly avoids being either. The art deserves a portfolio, the writing deserves a GPS, and fans deserve something resembling Spider-Man, not Peter Parker playing cosmic camp counselor for a busload of alien B-listers. If Marvel wants to keep Spider-Man fans on board, its time to bring the wall-crawler home, or at the very least, explain how he wound up light-years from what made him amazing in the first place. Holy cow. I freaking LOVED this issue.
Im a big fan of no kill rules in my superheroes. I think its a strong moral framework that separates them from other vigilantes.
And despite the fact my favorite superhero Rocket is in this issue, and acts as an OPPONENT to that stance, this issue does a fantastic job of displaying why its such a strong stance to have. And Kelly, through Peter, words a fantastic argument for not killing.
But even aside from that, Peter taking down Black Dwarf? When's the last time we've even seen the Cull Obsidian in a book? It was a very cool fight. Pepe Larraz is in his bag as usual. May he draw spidey for many issues to come.
This issue had everything I want. This might be more
I’m one of those who think everything’s already been said and done with mainstream universe Spider-Man, so honestly, hats off; this version feels fresh, with genuinely original ideas. I’m actually even more interested in the cosmic side of the story than the earthbound one with Osborn.
This issue cooked. This really could be what an "isekai" Spider-Man should be. Peter Parker being Peter Parker but in a different context. Let's keep this momentum going!
This is just really good stuff. Sure, the overall pacing of the plot could be quicker, but I am liking everything this book has to offer. Especially the art, it is astonishing.
But the writing here is also really good. Keep on Kelly, you have not let me down yet.
Actually pretty decent. No ideal what’s going on with this Imperial event but it’s not bleeding over too much here.
I was really looking forward to Peter's cosmic adventures. But while Pepe Larraz doesn't disappoint, the story is pretty trivial - which is kind of ironic, since one would expect outer space to provide opportunities galore for great ideas. Anyway, the opposite seems to be the case. All the mind-numbing, "funny" dialogue can't hide the fact that there's no inspiration behind this story arc.
This is 100% a filler arc and I’m not here for it. Call me when Pete’s back on earth. Hell the Norman spidey stuff is even way more interesting than this. I just…. Don’t care.
Space Spidey just doesn't work for me. Add in the racoon and this issue was a stinker.
