May 13, 2026This was a solid issue that did a great job of exploring the emotional and psychological strain that comes with Peter Parker leading a double life. Between the pressure of keeping his identity secret, the complications surrounding Ben Reilly, and the lingering fallout from his time away from Earth, the book gives Peter a heavier emotional load than the average superhero punch-up. May 06, 2026Amazing Spider-Man #28 is a strong breather issue that still manages to move key threads forward. Joe Kelly leans into Peter Parker’s chaotic life, stacking problems across superhero duties, friendships, and work, while keeping the tone sharp and entertaining. The time paradox thread adds intrigue without overwhelming the issue, and the character moments land with real weight. It may not deliver a huge central conflict, but it succeeds as a focused, character-driven chapter. Read Full Review

May 11, 2026The Amazing Spider-Man #28 is a much needed down beat after an explosive set of arcs that left the life of Peter Parker in the background. The road to #1000 begins here, tying up loose ends and leaving the character in a place where a new trajectory is on the horizon. Read Full Review

Amazing issue. These kinds of breather issues are always nice to read and this one especially hits close for me. My life has generally been a mess lately too, even if it is going better, so reading Peter's thoughts and almost giving up is very relatable. But he doesn't. And that's what makes him my favorite super hero. Kelly did a wonderful job here.
Art was great and this didn't feel shoehorned. Even if I wasn't a big fan of 8 Deaths, callback to it was great. It just worked. Everything here just works for me.
And while I will always love JRJR, I'm not sad to hear he is leaving ASM. New artists are always welcome, I mean look at Pepe Larraz! He is amazing. And I know few others who would be just as great on ASM. -

Well we get a Claremont slowdown recap type issue. And it’s very much needed. Joe wisely takes time to remind the reader of how much has happened with Peter. That much I applaud. The art is competent and well done as well.
So why a 5.5? All the things being recalled remind me how bad ASM has been. The deaths story was so bad. The captain kintsugi stuff. The lame aliens. Christ this was like ptsd. Joe is a good writer. What’s been happening with his ASM run is beyond me. This stuff just pain sucks. I just want good spiderman comics and this ain’t it. -
