Smith delivers some beautifully detailed and impressive art throughout the issue. I liked the visual style a lot and how they contrast the intense action scenes and the milder character moments. Read Full Review

With a focus on character over action, Avengers Assemble #1 feels like the Avengers comics of old. The team looms a bit too large at times, but this premiere issue is a solid start. It is highly recommended to all fans of Marvel Comics and superhero team books. Read Full Review
A good, solid, entertaining start to a more back-to-basics, classic superhero-style Avengers comic. The big roster should have plenty of appeal. And matching jackets are awesome. Read Full Review
As alluded to, writer Orlando seems like hes enjoying himself on this series, an energy that transfers to the reader. I read a lot of Bronze Age Avengers when I was first getting into comics, and this title (thus far) gives me that vibe. Cory Smith, Oren Junior & Elisabetta DAmicos art here isnt totally to my personal taste and comes across a little workmanesque, but it serves the script fine and theyre definitely given a lot of fun material to work with. I do wonder if theres a plan to have revolving artists on this title, which would reflect the anthology-esque plotting it seems were being given, but a solid creative team who can deliver the material on time would also be great. In any event, Avengers Assemble #1 is a fun start to what should be an enjoyable, easygoing superhero comic. Read Full Review

Think of all the Julie Power fans they missed by excluding her from the cover.
You can go so far with a premise so shallow as Sin stealing an ancient artifact. So not a terribly deep comic for sure, I do not think it does anything that good too, it's pretty much a straight-up celebration of the eras of the Avengers, especially pre-Dissambled and especially the West Coast/Stern era, but again not that deep, it's more like...pleasant. Like every time Wonder Man makes an appearance is an event for me and that's because he like some of the other characters here really is in somewhat of limbo of being an A-tier Avenger, but nobody doing anything with him. So even if again that's surface level and unexplored, that's something i can appreciate.
I see that is trying to carry that warm and light, cozy feeling of Ste more
I like half the team and I question the others. The dialogue is just awful. Also, the going back and forth between the battle and the joking about what is happening at the mansion is quite jarring. Also, with the battle going on why aren't the members at the mansion alerted to it even if they were only monitoring YouTube. It's just not a good start to this run. Steve Orlando is a mediocre writer at best and it's on full highlight here.
