The creepiest Spider-Story in years continues! Beset and beleaguered by the wicked power of DEMON BEAR, Peter Parker is having nightmares whenever he falls asleep and sometimes even when he hasn't! Worse still, it's making his time as Spider-Man even MORE difficult! But there's no rest for a weary spider, and the web-slinger will have no choice but to dig in and hang on - unless he wants to meet a grizzly end! (Hah. Grizzly!)

DEADLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN #2 exists in its own world in a way. Its still inside regular continuity. But it feels is completely different from the other Spider-Man books being published now. It feels fresh. But the creative team hasnt had to go beyond the confines of what makes Peter work. Even as it goes to places Spider-Man doesnt usually find himself in, the focus is always on the character so it retains that smaller, more personal quality that makes Peter and Spider-Man work. Deadly Neighborhood Spider-Man #2 creates a mystical quest for Spidey to duel the Demon bear. While that sounds interesting, the path to get there is convoluted, poorly explained, and doesn't always make much sense. The creepy art is a highlight, but a few splash pages get fancy with the panel layout to the detriment of the reading order. Read Full Review

Writers B. Earl and Taboo (member of the Black Eyed Peas) have a better footing of their story now in issue #2, making you wonder if so much of the set-up in #1 was necessary or if they were just getting to the reveal of the big bad (New Mutants favorite The Demon Bear). Read Full Review
