• The events of DEVIL'S REIGN #1-2 have put Spidey in an awful position.
• As if that weren't enough, the newly returned ROSE has Spidey in his crosshairs and wants to prove that he's badder than his dad, Kingin, ever was.
Rated T+
Devils Reign: Spider-Man #1 is a fun breath of fresh air to what has been a very dark event so far. It still contains threatening moments for our hero, but the tone of the dialogue and the cartoonish art lighten the mood whilst reading it. Read Full Review
This one-shot does a great job of taking Ben's story from Devil's Reign, giving it a solid, entertaining conclusion, and then folding him back into Amazing Spider-Man. It provides the Rose with some fun moments to shine and shows just how far a Spider-Man will go for his friends. Read Full Review

For being an event tie-in, Devil's Reign: Spider-Man #1 packs one heck of a bunch. Read Full Review
Devil's Reign: Spider-Man #1 is your typical tie-in issue. While not bad, if you choose to skip the issue there's nothing here of major interest and you also won't miss anything in terms of the larger Devil's Reign story. The other half of the comment focuses on the Rose, and the character's obsession with proving himself by capturing Spider-Man for his father. Unfortunately, while his minions are able to momentarily get the upper-hand, things don't turn out so well in the end. It seems if you want a job done right… Read Full Review
One of the better Devil’s Reign tie ins.
It's pretty good. However, I would've liked this to be the original 3-parter, as it currently felt a bit too long, while the ending felt rushed.
This little side-quest is a better Beyond tie-in than it is a part of Devil's Reign. It shines a light on Ben Reilly's day-to-day in a way that the current arc of ASM never seemed to get around to. His relationship with his handler Marcus is great here.
But this book is a long way from perfect. The art's pretty solid, but the script leaves much to be desired. The pace is uneven, with the early scenes dragged down by dissonant narration. The Rose's voice is generally excruciating, and there are little flaws in other characters' dialogue, too.
I get that the Rose is halfway to being a joke-villain, but this issue invites me to mock him for being poorly-written, not for being overconfident and incompetent.
This issue treats the Rose like a joke, and he definitely is one. Nick Spencer spent so much time building up to the Rose's resurrection and this is what we get for it. Hopefully, Zdarsky weaves him into his Daredevil run, since he's set up Kingpin's other son to play a large role in Marvel's criminal underworld. Or maybe, Zeb Wells should use him to greater effect in his upcoming run also seemingly focused on gang wars. Just do something more than... this.
Really disappointed by this. Most of Devil’s Reign has been exceptionally better than most comic events, but this one is just a throwaway. I won’t be continuing this one.
