I know. I really am going to miss their art. It was perfect for the story.
• Mister Misery has kidnapped Wong and is using everything Strange's friend and companion knows about the Sorcerer Supreme.
• A compromised Strange must find a way to defeat the sadistic entity without killing Wong!
Rated T+
Aaron's Strange again strikes the perfect balance between cocksure braggart and fiercely protective friend, and the somewhat predictable ending does nothing to diminish the layered emotions the writer is able to draw out of his cast. Bachalo brings a similar depth to his pencils. Read Full Review
Aaron uses this chapter to show just how important the relationship between Strange and Wong truly is. With flashbacks to their meeting to Mister Misery threatening a future without. There are some great emotional moments here that has made Aaron one of my favorite writers in Marvel currently. Bachalo helps up the tension with some claustrophobic art as the climax nears. Misery represented in a all encompassing way. I will be sad to see the creative team go.
This was a really great issue, focussing on the Dr. Strange/Wong relationship, and their battle against Mister Misery. I really liked the flashback scenes, and character work done by Aaron. It's nice to Zelda fully in the mix as well. It's the penultimate Aaron/Bachalo issue, and while that is a depressing idea, this issue is a perfect example of the charm they have brought to this title.
Bachalo is the perfect artist for Dr Strange. The story was great, offering insight into the relationship between Wong and Strange.
Wow a great way to end the story. I never actually would have thought about that. I'm happy the story ended with a dramatic flair. But I am sad to hear that Aaron and Bachalo are leaving they made the stories really entertaining.
I enjoyed the ending. The strong Doc/Wong bond was heartfelt (even if Doc doesn't know what Wong has for breakfast). The colouring was questionable again. The goto puke jokes are getting kinda tired too. And the final fate of Mr.Misery was too confusing - did Doc absorb him for keeps or vomit him down the loo into the rate infested sewer?
Dr. Strange defeats Mr. Misery (sort of?) in this subtle examination of his relationship with Wong. This is a tricky comic. You have to read it very closely to catch all of the character development, and I see valid arguments for rating it anywhere between 9 and 4 out of 10. Mr. Bachalo's art is likewise polarizing: This serving is simply going to reinforce your existing opinion of his talents. This issue certainly isn't flawless; I think the key complaint both fans and haters can agree on is that the details of how Mr. Misery's beaten and where he goes could use some more attention.
Starts out good but the pacing gets all messed up in the middle and the climax is a little glossed over.
