While not a perfect book, issue 12 was a great step toward the coming battle. The creative team keeps teasing us with the reveal of Tony's new armor and I feel like a kid on Christmas morning being told to wait to open my presents! I want to see it! I am enjoying this ride and I am so happy that the creative team are taking their time and allowing this story to breathe. Well done to all involved, this series has been one win after another and I can't wait to see what kind of wild ride I am taken on next month! Read Full Review
Featuring stellar lines from guest artist Ig Guara, this is another well-rounded issue in a string of hits. Read Full Review
Guara delivers some intense and powerful art that perfectly captures the intensity of the story and the confrontations between its characters. Read Full Review
Invincible Iron Man #12 almost scuttles Iron Man's plans by shoehorning in an unnecessary appearance by Riri Williams. The mess Riri creates works out in the end, but her inclusion and subsequent battle would have been avoided if Tony had made a better choice, which is a terrible observation to make about a character who should be one of the smartest heroes in Marvel. Please Marvel give Riri a good book already. She deserves it!
Tony Stark’s plans are finally starting to come together and the inclusion of Riri Williams in this issue was a great way to add some additional complexity to the former billionaire. They have such a great chemistry together and Duggan does an amazing job showing how Riri’s presence can humanize Tony and allow him to re-focus his plans on why they are so important. The Riri vs. Emma showdown was also so fun to read and Ig Guara’s art really shined throughout those panels. It’s not a true X-Men title, but this has been such a major part of the Fall of X arc and honestly, one of the more consistently interesting ones outside the core 3 (X-Men, X-Men Red, Immortal X-Men).
I've been good with Andrea Di Vito being the rotating artist on this run with Juan Frigeri, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Guara's art. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was just wasn't my favorite, especially with Frigeri doing a large chunk of the art in this series. As for Duggan's story, I thought it was engaging throughout. That said, though, it did feel a relatively inconsequential, similar to the previous issue.
