RATED T+
The Marauders find answers to their mission which only brings them new questions, and new challenges, while also dealing them a pretty devastating loss for the time being. This series continues to be a fun romp in space while also bringing new dimensions not only to some of the cast but the history of mutants and the tapestry of the overall Marvel Universe. A step down from previous issues — Cassandra Nova is the most interesting thing this comic has; the less of her there is the less an issue holds my interest, and this issue is very light on old Cassie. But Carlini delivers her usual enjoyably kinetic art, and Orlando's ideas for Tempo's relationship to time are fascinating and add some heft to a character who's always been an underdeveloped gem.
Maybe the artist is a bad influence on the writer. She's telling this story with frantic dynamism and the result is busy, but comprehensible.
The author is frantic, too, but the script is much less coherent or enjoyable. He manages to make a total hash out of his big First Blood reveal and his dive into Tempo's powers, squandering what little potential those ideas had.
Whether it be the art or the writing there is very little I find recognizable about the characters.
The frenetic layouts of the pages are confusing and continuously pulls the story away from the reader.
If there is anything of interest happening the creative team are doing their best to hide it since nothing of interest comes through.
Bad, just bad.
Oof.
