Aside from this a great way by Dan Slott to show how Otto really does prove himself to be the Superior Spider-Man. Not because he says he is, but because he proves it every time he steps into a fight prepared. Maybe the army and robots could be excessive, but who would not want that kind of power to back you up? If you are a Spidey fan, do not turn your back for the fact that he doesn't do things the same way as Pete, enjoy the fact that he is something new, and maybe someone the world deserves more at the time. This issue has a lot of things going on and I love some of the reverse dynamics here from what Peter himself always feared over the years played out with Octavius driving it with Phil. The office space material is fantastic as there's a lot of moving parts and most people, including Norah, get some good time to bring it all out in the open. I also really liked seeing how Octavius, whose costume continues to get darker and darker, orchestrates events on the outside with his hired hands massaging the situation and adding a very different kind of vigilante feel about it. It's a solid book that helps to continue to build what the Green Goblin is doing while also touching upon several other points that have been nudging along nicely. Read Full Review

Once again we have a great read, but a pretty terrible one if you haven't been following along. That's because Dan Slott has been slowly adding new aspects and building this new world for Spidey to explore. When Robbie tells Spidey he's created a pressure cooker I instantly realized that's what this series is, and that's a fantastic thing. Each issue has something to love, but it's all building and building to the point where it's practically painful to watch at times. In a good way. There's no question that "Superior Spider-Man" is a classic era of storytelling in the making, and it's particularly impressive for forging entirely new ground, rather than homaging or re-imagining previous Spidey stories. Readers have never seen the character written like this before, and while Dan Slott has always been one of the best Spider-Man writers around, there's a real sense that this is his opus. Another arc comes to a close, and the pieces continue to fall into place and the chess pieces continue to move around the board. The fact that Slott is obviously playing the long game with so many plot threads in this series shows the faith that Marvel have in this new direction for Spider-Man, and as I've said numerous times in the past 16 issues, Superior Spider-Man is never disappointing or a poor read. Get ready for Superior Spider-Man vs Hobgoblin round 2. Otto Octavius is determined to do things in what he views as an efficient end to crime. The action escalates and Phil Urich, as Hobgoblin, is going to have some fancy footwork to do in order to make it out of this one. Dan Slott continues this wacky (and sometimes deadly) adventure with a different sort of Spider-Man. That means we never know what to expect as there's no telling what SUPERIOR Spider-Man will do. Humberto Ramos pours fun and excitement into the art making the action feel even bigger and more spectacular. There is more to the story than this conclusion. Finally, I like how Slott has been bringing all these Goblins together. Throughout the history of Spider-Man, there have seemingly been tons of Goblin wannabes. With the original Green Goblin assembling a crew for quite some time now, it almost looks like he has the power to take on Spidey and his new army. I've been waiting for this clash to take place, but it's been a bit of a slow burn. This is something that I really want to see, so hopefully it doesn't disappoint when it does happen. Then again, no matter what anyone out there says, Dan Slott hasn't made any disappointing decisions when it comes to 'Superior Spider-Man' thus far. Karma has always been a part of the Spider-Man mythos, and given just how badly Otto Octavius has dealt with Phil Urich, I wouldn't be surprised if the Superior Spider-Man's sins aren't about to catch up with him. Still, this issue falls victim to too much going on at once, with the plot superseding the characterization - something that could have really made this comic memorable, especially considering that Peter Parker and Phil Urich were two sides of the same coin. Still, it takes a lot to juggle that many subplots, as Dan Slott succeeds where many more writers would have totally failed. Ultimately, Superior Spider-Man #16 isn't a bad book, even if it also isn't one of the unfriendly neighborhood web-slinger's strongest outings. Read Full Review

It's safe to say, then, that my interest in this title is at a point where it could go either way. Sure, there are still things to like here, but it's the nagging sense that the story is being artificially dragged out rather than being organic that does the most damage. Overall, Superior Spider-Man feels like a broken record. What makes Spider-Man such an interesting character is that many people can relate to him. His life is tough, which people really feel for. Not the strongest issue in the series, but definitely not the worst. Part 2 of "Run, Goblin, Run" sees Phil Urich's (aka the Hobgoblin) life come crashing down. Spidey has revealed Phil's identity, so Phil makes a final stand. The art is fit for a comic like this, but the writing fell a little flat. The ending wasn't very satisfying, and felt more like setup for future plot lines than a true ending.
