The creators of the blockbuster podcast The Adventure Zone bring their talents to Marvel for a wild romp through THE WAR OF THE REALMS!
Earth is at war, besieged by an army of Frost Giants, Trolls and Fire Goblins - and the mighty Thor is nowhere to be found! But could it be that the key to turning the tide is...Thor's baby sister? Journey into Mystery with Spider-Man (Miles Morales), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Wonder Man, and Balder the Brave as they go on an epic quest to save Earth's only hope! (And, yes, deal with diaper duty.)

The War of the Realms event books should be this good! Highly recommended! Read Full Review
War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery #1 is about all you can ask of a big event spin-off " fun to read and easy to pick up on its own, even if you're not necessarily keeping up with the main series. Read Full Review
The art by Andre Lima Araujo is great. There is a lot of detail in the panels and it matches the fun tone of this story. Read Full Review
I had no idea what to expect when going into this book, but I could not have been more pleased. Read Full Review
Fun, free and unsurprisingly quick-witted, the McElroys' first Marvel outing is a great comic in its own right, embellishing hilariously and surprisingly on its great premise almost effortlessly. Read Full Review
Final Verdict: 7.1 – A fun team-up and adventure within the War of the Realms. The McElroys are off to a good start, with a strong art team bringing their story to life. Read Full Review
The issue is an ok one. It tells one slice of the bigger story and time will tell how important that slice is. In the end, that may be the judge of the worth of the series. But, so far, this is a spin-off you might want to save your money. Read Full Review
Neither McElroy fans nor Marvel die-hards will be disappointed with Journey Into Mystery. It's a fun comic that fits within the greater tapestry of the Marvel Universe and retains just enough of the McElroys' distinct voices to feel unique. Read Full Review
This is the first War of the Realms tie-in published and also a completely non-essential SKIP that can be disregarded. I hope future installments and tie-ins of the event will be more interesting. Read Full Review
This issue is bad and the fact that it's the first tie-in issue to the War of the Realms Event boggles my mind. I am hoping the other tie-ins are better (and it won't take much!) because if they aren't, we have a long road ahead of us. If you are picking and choosing what tie-ins to buy, I suggest leaving this one on the shelf! Read Full Review
The art is a delight to look at and I love the team the McElroy bros have assembled: Balder (Thor), Kate Bishop (West Coast Avengers), Thori (Thor), Wonder Man (Avengers), Miles Morales (Spider Man), Sebastian Druid (Secret Warriors), and Death Locket (Avengers Arena)! Now that’s an awesome group of characters. They have a simple mission: Protect Lausanne from Malekith’s forces at all costs! My only complaint is how generic and easy the McElroy brothers assembled this team
Had low expectations going in, but was pleasantly surprised
This was fine. I feel like the art really didn't help things, and most of the issue was spent on gathering the team, which isn't that interesting.
It's a super-safe premise that will sink or swim based entirely on how well the writers do character-driven comedy. This serving didn't hit a home run but it didn't foul off, either.
Yet another sibling added to the extensive Thor family tree. The McElroy family from the Adventure Zone fairs admirably in their break into Marveldom. I think they need a little more restraint with the jokes, it doesn't work as well if everyone is the goofball character. Any time you need to assemble a team together in one issue it becomes problematic. It works well at first with the team's first half, but the second half is very inorganic.
There are too many Odinsons/dottirs running around and I don’t care for it.
