If you want to see Beast take a loss, check out Wolverine #35. Less an issue of Wolverine and more of a good chapter of X-Force, this issue is filled with action, and Deadpool steals the show more than once in the best of ways. Read Full Review
Wolverine #35 finishes off the "Weapons of X" arc with a bang as the full X-Force team finally gets involved to tear its way through Beast's kaiju-esque fortress. Read Full Review
It all comes down to this as the big Beast and Wolverine confrontation years in the making comes to a conclusion, of sorts. ‘Wolverine' #35 has many of the highs and the lows that have become almost a staple of this particular volume of the clawed mutant's never-ending solo adventures. Percy has struggled in the past to land a satisfying conclusion to some of his story arcs in previous issues of Wolverine and X-Force, but that is not the case here. This issue was very engaging, feeling very down-to-earth with solid stakes and goals. The action was also handled well, leading up to a climax that -- while not wrapping the whole plot up neatly -- does give a promise that it will and sets up a more cunning Beast down the road.
Though this is Wolverine's book, it is really X-Force that is the shining star of the issue. Sage leads the charge, making the bold decision to go against the Quiet Council to help Logan attempt to take Beast down. The field team of Omega Red, Deadpool, Domino and Laura handle themselves very more
A writer that loves and really understands the character he is writing and beautiful artwork that matches the tone of the plot perfectly makes this issue of wolverine fantastic. I hope Benjamin Percy continues to write my favorite character for as long as possible
It's a tense, bustling climax. The cast is big and fun, the action is fast and furious, and the art is pretty damn gorgeous. Benjamin Percy loads in some of his finest tough-guy dialogue in the early scenes.
Unfortunately, it unravels a bit at the end. The resolution resolves very little, and it arrives too suddenly.
The final scenes are why I think it's not quite great. Everything that comes before tells me it's very good, though.
Not quite the conclusion I was hoping for, but it was still good overall. I liked Jeff recognizing and shouting out how he knew that the Beast sent out to deal with him and Wolverine wasn't the real one (AKA "Beast Prime). I've really liked how Percy has been handling Beast across this series and in his X-Force run, so hopefully what comes next with him continues to be at that level.
We’ve reached the conclusion of the “Weapons of X” storyline that has cemented Beast as a full-fledged supervillain. WOLVERINE #35 by Benjamin Percy pits Wolverine against an army of Beast & Wolverine clones as he tries to stop Beast Prime from continuing to enact atrocities unchecked. As has most of this story arc, the issue is an extension of the X-FORCE series, with the full X-Force roster playing a role in the mission to put an end to Beast’s maniacal rule.
WOLVERINE #35 (and the broader conversation around Beast’s worldview throughout the Krakoan age) was an interesting read after seeing Oppenheimer this past weekend. The debate on how far a nation should go to defend itself will likely never be settled, though we more
Basically, the end of Krakoa.
What a disappointing and unsatisfying end to the Beast arc.
