Wolverine Black White & Blood #1 is long on violence and blood with Wolverine doing what he does best but at the same time manages to keep the thread of Logan's humanity there amongst it's beautifully rendered and blood-spattered pages. While its impact on canon is negligible, the care put into the execution makes it a must-have for any fan of old Canucklehead and anyone else wanting to see artists and writers at the top of their game. Wolverine: Black, White, And Blood #1 is a Wolverine tour de force, telling three great Wolverine stories, each highlighting a different part of him- the beast with a heart of a man, the expert black ops operator, and the blood-soaked avenger of the innocent. The art is perfect, with the limited palette making the violence that much more stark and brutal. This comic is a must-read for Wolverine fans and just fans of good stories in general. Wolverine: Black, White & Blood is a great way to experience Wolverine as it features different sides of the character with three different styles of art. This doesn't drown in blood so much as revel in it while never losing sight of the heart of Wolverine. Read Full Review
Wolverine: Black, White, & Blood #1 is a hell of a start for the series. It's a solid read whether you like Wolverine or not. Each story is full of violent, brutal, action, but also has more than enough to have you pause and think. A solid start to the series that makes the case for more of these types of releases. Overall, wow! Black, White, & Blood delivered on many different levels. Of the three stories that comprise the issue, two were stellar and the imagery included will be one that comic collectors will want to get a hold of. For fans of Wolverine, this is an issue you do not want to miss. It'll be exciting to see what the future issues hold from other creators who are lined up for this mini-series. Read Full Review
Overall, this is a book for Wolverine fans and is worth it more for the art, which is fantastic, than the stories, which are relatively basic fare. I don't think it will win new fans or convert detractors, but I don't think that's the point. Recommended if you already love Wolverine! Read Full Review
I found all 3 stories to be great! Fantastic artwork as well especially Adam kubert which is no surprise since he is the best Wolverine artist in my opinion
Rosenberg / Casssara - 9.5/10
Shalvey - 9/10
Duggan / Kubert - 8/10
I do like it when an anthology is (accidentally or not) stacked in increasing order of quality. The first two strips, I can take or leave. The Declan Shalvey strip is worth the price of admission all by its lonesome.
I am typically not a fan of anthologies, but I'm hopeful about this one because it doesn't seem quite so random.
The Beast Within Them is a visual feast, while telling a pretty common Wolverine story. It's the art that sells this one.
I Shall Be A Wolf is pretty fun. It isn't amazing but it's a good, predictable time.
Cabin Fever is also fun. I think it makes the most use of the color palette of the three stories, but is probably the weakest written.
Overall, this was a fun time. Nothing crazy good, but it's just a whole lot of Wolverine.
I Shall Be A Wolf was the best one and we all know it.
black/white/red has got to be one of the most unimaginative color choices of all time
