The visuals are stunning, but amid all the action, Williamson has managed to perfectly ground this tale in a very human battle for family. Read Full Review
This is very much an action issue about family and it's well paced, well considered, and well done. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1066 is the latest in Brainiacs fight against Superman, not just in this story but historically. The Brainiac Queen tests the waters of the universe shes soon to inhabit as an antagonist. Mostly a fight comic, Action Comics #1066 sets up a last battle between Lex Luthor and Brainiac you won't want to miss. The opening of this issue cements the utter devastation of Queen Brainiac if left to roam free, which thoroughly heightens the stakes for the finale. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1066 unveils the Brainiac Queen in all her vicious glory! Sadly, she is a dud. The entire storyline has built up to her reveal, her moment of creation, and what we get is disappointing, to put it nicely. What's worse is she's just a creature, not a character. Even Brainiac's motives for creating her don't add up. Thankfully, what saves this comic is the character dialogue, action, art, and the dynamic between Superman and Lex Luthor, and Luthor really steals the show in the second half of the comic. So we are at the cliffhanger moment. Lex plugged into Brainiac to try to kill him from the inside. Superman, Supergirl, and Lobo trying to fight off his drones so Lex can do what he wants. The Brainiac Queen is depowered and on the ground. I do feel that the overall plot has moved to a good spot to be ready to conclude. I still don't think I know what Brainiac is desiring or planning here. As a result, I puzzled a lot and was occasionally pulled out of the story while I tried to think these things through. Great art and great action made it entertaining and a good read. Read Full Review
The stakes escalate this issue, especially for Luthor, who undergoes some fascinating character development in the midst of a living Borg-like hell. Everything comes together in this tense, penultimate issue that is turning into one of the best Braniac stories ever written! I don’t want it to end yet.
while I wished this issue came out a week earlier, this issue was great with story, character moments, action, hte art is beautiful, and I like how this issue highlights more on Brainiac and Superboy
This is the continuation of the House of Brainiac storyline. The artwork continues to be good and Williamson sticks the landing on this one. Luthor goes into Brianiac's mind to save Lena. That's a good arc for him. However, Brainiac wanting love is not really an element of this character. Overall, I'm enjoying this series.
