HOUSE OF BRAINIAC PART THREE Superman and Lobo have their hands full with Brainiac's Lobo army, so it's up to Supergirl and Conner Kent to stop Brainiac himself! It's an impossible battle, but they are joined by some unexpected and deadly allies!
This is a very fast-paced story, and calls back to some of the best 1990s Superman crossoversparticularly the highly entertaining "The Trial of Superman, which also dealt with some odder areas of space. Read Full Review
Pacing on HOB has been excellent. It doesn't feel like it's dragging, and Williamson keeps escalating the stakes to avoid making it read stagnant. With Sandoval, Mendonca, Sanchez and Sharpe solidly holding up their end this installment is an easy recommendation. Read Full Review
The third part of the House of Brainiac event is a fun and action-packed comic with stunning art. This issue leans into the action in Action Comics. Its any issue that will make any Superman fan extremely happy. Read Full Review
Even though some of the end results of this crossover has been revealed through the hype of 'Absolute Power', the journey has proven to be worth the ride. I'm especially impressed Williamson stayed true to Lobo by not boxing him into his "good guy version that tends to happen when he teams up with heroes. The additions of Brainiac's successors also makes the title of the crossover more than just a play on The House of El and keeps the uncertainty of the story's outcome shrouded in mystery. Action Comics #1065 further proves that "House of Brainiac" is a great superhero adventure worth checking out. Combining the space opera with action works wonders to keep readers entertained with a story they've never seen before. Read Full Review
I really like Vril, covering his stories in REBELS. way back in the day. Solid issue all around with a lot for Supergirl fans to mull over. Read Full Review
DCs current Odd Couple walks in thin ice as Brainiac reveals his master scheme in this chapter. Williamson brings out the humor and harsh reality with the writing. Sandoval, Mendonca and Sharpe balance out the big events with fantastic art. This crossover is heading into different routes so hop on board before its too late. Read Full Review
Enjoyable, entertaining middle chapter of this Superman vs. Brainiac story. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1065 delivers the third part in the House of Brainiac story. We get more action with Superman and Lobo, which is a huge plus with Rafa Sandoval's art. What's a better surprise is that Supergirl steps into the forefront with a very active role in this story. All while the interactions with Lex and Brainiac drop some hints about what Brainiac's making and why he's possibly doing it, which is brought up in the backup story a little. Overall, a solid issue with cool action, nice character moments, and some neat twists. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1065 maintains the high bar for one of Joshua Williamson's better arcs in the series. The action and excitement are high, the developments are big, and the art looks great. That said, Brainiac's plan is not much of a surprise to anyone, so dragging out the mystery is becoming a sore spot. Read Full Review
Action Comics #1065 feels consistent all the way through in writing, art, colors, and letters, despite there being multiple artists and colorists contributing to this continuation of DC's "House of Brainiac" event. Read Full Review
There's a ton of action here which keeps everything moving very well even though there's a lot to get through. There's no sacrifice of character moments, either which makes this very well done over all. Read Full Review
Very entertaining issue, great action and very fast paced.
Well written and the visuals are awesome.
Joshua Wiliamson is killing it, this event is up there with Dark Crisis. I love the art, the story, the dialogue, and character dynamic on how the mystery unfolds on Lex Luthor and Brainiac
Good solid read. Gets a +.5 from me as it has SPACE CABBIE! I got a soft spot for that golden age fellow.
On the to real part of it, it moves the plot forward, we get some good fighting and Lobo... being Lobo I suppose. Brainiac's plan is starting to be revealed but still interesting how he is breaking down. Look forward to more reveals. Art for the main story was good. Art for the backup looks like something I could draw and I am a disaster at drawing. Its too scratchy with too much darkness and none of the characters look as they should. I dont know what it is about DC and having amazing main issue artists then having like E tier list backups.
I have to say this is a story that has improved as it's developed. We all know by now thanks to all the talk about Absolute Power, DC's 256,923rd "Ultimate Big event" just what Brainiac is forcing Luthor to help him build.
One thing I don't understand is why Superman feels the need for that ridiculous space suit. We've seen him go into space countless times without the need for one. Is he so weak now he actually needs his own space suit? A concept I saw back in the '90s on the cartoon show I didn't understand or like even then.
But I will say the House of Brainiac arc is improving as we reach its halfway point. I only hope it doesn't end on a cliffhanger where you're forced to read Absolute Power to see what happens next because I more
"House of Brainiac" continues as Superman & Lobo's battle against the Czarnians intensifies w/ a "surprising" turn of events. Meanwhile, Supergirl & Conner Kent form an alliance w/ Parasite & Livewire to escape their captivity. Things appear to be going well until Brainiac captures them & shows Supergirl his master plan.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this event, & this issue is another strong chapter. It's been great to see Williamson using these Action Comics entries to elevate the Super Family & other characters, while Superman gets the focus in his solo title. His script here juggles multiple plot threads equitably, while maintaining a fast pace, w/ well-constructed action scenes that showcase Sandoval & Mendoça's dynamic artwork.

Not as strong as the rest of the issues in this story, but this was still good, especially Sandoval’s art. Hopefully the backup story with Brainiac Five ends up being important, because I wasn’t super into it here.
